On this day in 1984, the Dead kicked off the East Coast leg of their Spring ‘84 tour in Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum. Dead Heads aboard the “mothership” would experience the first and only "Keep Your Day Job” opener in the band’s history. Set one was chock-full over covers including “Minglewood Blues,” “It’s All Over Now,” and “Beat It Down The Line.” The band’s originals made their way into set two with performances of “Truckin’,” “Scarlet Begonias,” and an encore of “U.S. Blues.”
