Do Arsenal need big names?

Yes.

Do we need to panic-buy?

Absolutely not.

Here’s what I think we actually need 👇

1/ Stop falling for the shiny-object syndrome.

Vinícius Jr. was never a realistic move once Madrid made it clear he was staying.

Álvarez? World-class. But the price + competition makes it a massive investment.

Barcola? Fantastic player. But PSG aren't exactly known for giving discounts.

Big names ≠ automatically the right signings.

2/ Look at the squad, not the headlines.

The biggest question is depth and quality in attack.

We need another wide attacker who can create, score and consistently contribute across a 50+ game season.

Not someone who just looks good on a transfer graphic.

We need REAL OUTPUT.

3/ Then there's midfield.

This is where I think the conversation gets interesting.

Give Rice another midfielder who can control games, win duels, progress the ball and allow Ødegaard more freedom?

That profile makes serious sense.

Bruno Guimarães.

For me, that's the type of signing worth discussing.

Not because he's trending.

Because he fits the football.

4/ Depth is EVERYTHING.

You don't win a title with 11 players.

You win it with a squad capable of surviving injuries, suspensions, fixture congestion and those horrible December-to-April stretches.

Every position doesn't need another superstar.

But every position needs reliable competition.

5/ And defensively?

If Saliba's fitness remains a concern, centre-back depth matters.

Hincapié was a smart addition for exactly that reason.

You don't wait for an injury crisis before thinking about cover.

That's how title races are lost.

6/ This is where I differ from the media narrative.

The media wants:

🔥 BIG NAME
🔥 BIG FEE
🔥 BIG HEADLINE
🔥 BIG REACTION

Arteta and Berta should be thinking:

Does he fit the system?
Does he improve the squad?
Does he improve the XI?
Can he handle the pressure?
Does he make us better for years?

That's squad building.

7/ My take as a Gooner:

I'd rather see Arsenal land:

✅ Bruno Guimarães
✅ One genuinely elite wide option
✅ More intelligent squad depth

…than spend £100m+ on a player simply because everyone on X is demanding him.

Quality over noise.

Every.

Single.

Time.

8/ Arsenal don't need to win the transfer window.

We need to win football matches.

The best transfer isn't necessarily the biggest name.

It's the player who makes Arsenal harder to beat.

That's the standard.
