Today marks the final day of the #MaskaniEldoret inception training by Maskani ya Taifa, where young people have spent the past three days strengthening their skills in digital advocacy, narrative framing, digital security, and civic engagement to enhance youth-led action and participation in governance.

Day Three has kicked off with a thought-provoking conversation on the "Mtu Wetu" syndrome in politics and governance, examining how ethnic and identity-based political narratives continue to shape leadership choices, public discourse, and electoral outcomes.

Participants are critically reflecting on how the "Mtu Wetu" narrative often shifts attention away from issue-based leadership, accountability, service delivery, and integrity, influencing citizens to support leaders based on ethnic or regional affiliations rather than their track record and vision for development.

The discussions are creating space for young people to challenge divisive political narratives and explore how narrative framing can be used to promote national unity, accountable leadership, and governance centred on the needs and aspirations of citizens.

As the training comes to a close, participants are reaffirming the importance of shifting political conversations from identity-based politics to issue-based engagement, ensuring that leadership is evaluated on competence, integrity, and commitment to public service.
