Basketball still has sellouts and intense regular season games even with their expanded field! Despite the smaller arenas, school fandom and rivalry games will pack out stadiums.
Yes this is true, but you forgot the upside. The ticket value for home games will go down allowing everyday people and families to attend regular season SEC games. The value of playoff homes games go up and will bring more money to the University that host the games.

I like the concept but would be unfair for the SEC. They easily have 3 or 4 better teams outside of the top 4 than all of big 12 top teams, majority of ACC top teams, and at least half of the Big 10. Also where do independent schools figure into this playoff.
It is hard to budget with the hopes of 3 more games and travel expense for those games. Also doesn’t help the games are right before Christmas when people probably already scheduled things to do.
Have so much high hopes for the home CFB Playoff games.
