🐿 Today when we did ‘Now This House Ain’t a Home’… I remembered what I was like when I first wrote it. Not vividly, but while writing it, I remember looking up really old memories and even searching for old photos from the past. There’s a line in the lyrics that goes, “I’m still at the playground instead of home,” right? Since I wrote it in the studio, it meant that just like when I was young, even now I’m not at home - I’m at my playground. I should be sleeping at home, I should go home and stay at home, but instead I’m out at the playground - at the studio - that was the feeling when I wrote it. But when I was singing it, those memories came back. Actually, when I rap, I tend to think about the lyrics - if I think too deeply, I end up messing up the lyrics a lot (laughs), so I don’t go extremely deep while performing, but after finishing all the lyrics, thinking about the playground, I felt like this stage was also like a playground to me, and I started getting immersed in that feeling. I’m not at home - I’m at the playground - on stage. But by the time the song was ending, it started to feel like this place was both home and a playground at the same time… it felt kind of mysterious? I think that’s the emotion I felt. There’s also the line “Not knowing how precious the old house was, while only building new houses,” right? If you think about it, it’s like not realizing how precious my own house was - the one I always closed the door to - and instead constantly searching for other things? (laughs) So back then, when I wrote those lyrics, it was because I missed the home where I used to finish the week watching Gag Concert with my mom and dad. But before long - at some point - I realized that when I hear these lyrics in the future, I might start missing the stage itself. That thought felt really interesting. Even with lyrics that I wrote myself, seeing that I keep finding new meanings in them - it feels so fascinating. That’s why I think I really like continuing to create things. As time passes, it becomes more interesting - I think that’s what I felt. And there are actually many lyrics like that. Because of that, I can’t just write anything carelessly and release it - maybe it’s because later I want to reflect deeply on them myself. (laughs)
