Yest called a client (followup) for my pending professional fees relating to last years Tax Audit and GST work.
The reason given was cash crunch...
The client has achieved a sizeable turnover during the financial year.
The CA ensures that the Tax Audit Report is filed on time, GST compliances are completed on time, statutory deadlines are protected so tht the client’s business remains compliant..
But when it comes to payment of professional fees the same urgency is missing.
Statutory liabilities are generally paid on time. Vendor payments are prioritised. Business expenses are managed. But professional fees, especially CA fees, are often treated as if they can wait indefinitely...
A CA works throughout the year not just on the date of filing.
If timely compliance has value..then timely professional payment should also have value...
