Nobody's perfect. Except, of course, Naz Hillmon tonight.
With a career scoring night and not a single missed basket, she's YOUR @albertapp Player of the Game!
Let's talk WNBA real quick. (And not politics, ha.)
Five years. That's how long I feel like @howard_rhyne's been one of the most overlooked players in the WNBA.
It's All-Star ballot season, and I saw an Athletic reporter lay out why Rhyne didn't make hers. Everybody's got the right to their take. This one lost me though.
Watch Atlanta's game. She's roughly top 10 in the W this year, and the two-way numbers say the same. Even through this rough patch the team hit recently, she's stayed hooping.
And a lot of what makes her great won't show up if you're only counting buckets. She's been letting Allisha Gray eat. Helping Angel Reese find her footing. Taking the other team's toughest cover every night and never saying a word about it.
That last part is the whole thing with Rhy. She's an artist, man. Quiet, maybe shy, the type who'd rather let her game talk for her. And it's been talking.
If I got overlooked back in the day, it never really stung, because the love in Milwaukee was so strong I never felt the cold. Rhy might not have that. And knowing her via what I see on social and TV, she'll never once say it out loud. So I will.
We see you, Rhy. From a fellow shooter. From a fellow quiet one. We see you.
I was a sneakerhead when I played.
Too old to really care like that now, but I still appreciate when sneaks tells a story, and WNBA star Rhyne Howard's new PE might be my fave one I've seen in a while. So, I'm gonna take a minute to talk about it, ha.
Caught this on the Dream broadcast when she debuted these Tatums last night. Purple for her friend who's battling lupus. The teal is for scleroderma, which took her grandma. Blue for Terrence Clarke, the Kentucky hooper we lost way too soon, who she was close with at school. And if you look at the heel there's a little makeshift Lego build back there, because Legos is one of her creative outlets.
Rhyne also said the design is fully hers, that Jordan basically took notes and executed. Anybody who's been around PEs knows it almost never works that way. (I can vouch, as someone's who has had a pair or two of his own, ha.)
Good looking Js. Better story. And all she did was set a W record wearing them. (Fastest to 400 career 3s made.)
Salute, @howard_rhyne.
Bradley Central has named former Bearettes star — and former Lady Vols point guard (including on the '91 national title team) — Jody Adams as its new girls' basketball coach. She spent the past 13 seasons coaching at the collegiate level, most recently at New Mexico St., but now returns home.
Everyone shut up I just learned a new word:
Eremition
(eh-ruh-mish-un)
The act of gradually fading from the lives of others, not out of malice, but a desire for solitude or renewal.
Please take this in a respectful way..
My brother (5) has been apart of every big accomplishment I’ve made since I lost him. I actually play EVERY game with a dog tag with his pictures on it. However, it just happened that my new teammie also wears the same number which I have no problem acknowledging. It honestly didn’t even register to me that it was her number as well until I saw her at the photo shoot. I just got the chain while I was still in Miami and thought that it would be the perfect accessory for that day. Thank you everyone for understanding.
I’ve had the honor to train & mentor some special young men & women over the years that have had team success and gone on to individual success but more importantly are prepared for life ! ……
