Let's talk comedy and linguistics. Or even just "telling a joke" and linguistics. In my training as a linguist, I have come to believe that most things that we do linguistically can be classified as Speech Acts. The same is true of doing comedy or even just telling a joke. 1/

stop telling people to have compassion for someone who has spent his entire career denying people their humanity!!! i don’t wish violence on people, but i’m not going to center my energy on a man who never once showed an ounce of compassion for my community. compassion is not automatic, and it surely the fuck isn’t owed to someone who built their platform on hate. FLATLINE. I NEVER GAVE A FUCK.
