I love that. Hayao Miyazaki does it as well, builds tension with silence. A two minute shot of someone just sitting in the grass. BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad does it quite a bit as well. It's my favorite way to tell stories. I really do enjoy that a lot.
I was like, "this will be super easy for me!" then I looked at the list! ๐ญ
Anyway:
- The Powerpuff Girls, of course.
- Samurai Jack
- Megas XLR
- Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends
- It's between Scooby Doo, Billy and Mandy, and We Bare Bears here.
I never talk about it as much as I love it, but Samurai Jack is, in my opinion, one of the best shows ever produced. And it's known for this, but I want to highlight how exceptional it is in telling so much story with so little dialogue.
meanwhile in those same 4 hours you're even screaming crying throwing up wanting to double text them soooooo bad but nooooooo, city girls must always be up, this is so exhausting, i just wanna love you ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
I hate how talking stages are so tactical these days, we used to be real loversโฆ like babe i wanna text you back immediately but you took 4 hours to reply so now i have to act nonchalant so that we're even
The pandemic took so much from us and we don't talk about it enough. Our Third Places, our diets, our 1997-2000 baddies, our ability to leave work at work, our earnings potential, our alcohol-independence etc, it's CRAZY.
@Unreal_Kev I'll NEVER forget this: this one game, I SAW the murder happen in cold blood, reported, and as soon as everyone unmutes the murderer says "Chayt did it! I saw it!" before I could even say anything. Was chucked out with no defense.
@chingyworld THIS PART! The backlash has already been sooooo exhausting. And people fail to attack whatever issues they have with the "system" and end up attacking her as a person (calling her average, mediocre, untalented) and it's unwarranted, cruel, and straight up wrong.
@chingyworld I think you're completely correct, and yet somehow that's where we differ ๐ in terms of impact, Midnights was indisputably AOTY. But that feels to me that it won as an experience rather than as an album. Even the picture she used FYC was an Eras Tour pic, not a Midnights one.
Another reason this bugs me is that, even if Tortured Poets Department is the defining album of her career, it won't be recognized because they wouldn't award her two years in a row for the most coveted award. Midnights shouldn't have been the album to put her in this position.
This isn't the album that should've made her a 4ร AOTY winner. Especially compared to the excellences that are folklore, 1989, and Fearless. I truly didn't even expect it for her. But... okay, I guess. #Grammys
