16–20: The Missing Link in Welsh Rugby
Welsh rugby isn’t short of talent.
It’s short of structure between 16 and 20.
In my latest piece, I’ve moved from identifying the problems to outlining a practical framework to widen the base and strengthen the pathway.
If we’re serious about the future, this is where the work sits.

I’m genuinely interested in views from coaches, players and administrators.

@LeeJarvis10 Totally agree. Going in to HT 7-19 would have given us hope. That moment of madness killed all hope. Keeping him in the match day squad next week would condone this madness.

Gwynebau #hapus wrth i'n chwaraewyr fwynhau eu gemau v @CfyrddinDan11 . Diolch yn fawr i
@Llandybie_RFC am eich croeso.
Happy faces from our Under 11s players. Thank you very much to @Llandybie_RFC for your welcome & best wishes to Carmarthen for the season.
@PhoenixRugbyRFC@Oweninsouts@TheVietGwent Go back to the tiered entry system where stronger teams enter in later rounds. Part of the mystery of the cup was that ‘theoretically’ a team in Div 6 ‘could’ win the Cup and there would always be the odd surprise result. FA cup style. Introduce secondary Plate & Bowl Comp too.
@Oweninsouts@TheVietGwent Also bring back the Welsh Cup where teams in the SRC can be drawn against the minnows. Increased interest, engagement and bigger gates = financial support for smaller clubs 🏆
“Under a Labour government we would freeze energy bills. We wouldn’t allow them to go up.”
~ Keir Starmer
Another lie.
Energy prices are to rise again, by 2% in October. Energy prices are 12% higher than when Labour came into government in July 2024.
The WRU will launch its consultation on the future of the game in Wales on Wednesday.
If it gets this wrong, we might as well all walk away.
Supercharging into oblivion?

"'Systemic failure of leadership’ is the main theme within the WRU as a whole these days. Loads of people in charge and nobody in charge".
