Oatside, a Singapore-based oat milk brand, is facing limited availability in the Philippines, with resellers now selling cartons at marked-up prices even as the company moves to restock official channels.
Customers allege the brand has been largely unavailable in grocery stores since late May. New stocks often sold out immediately, and official Oatside e-commerce stores were also quick to run out of inventory.
Oat milk, which has gained traction in cafรฉs and among consumers shifting to plant-based alternatives, has seen growing demand in urban markets. In the Philippines, Oatside has benefited from this trend, with strong interest from coffee drinkers and health-conscious consumers contributing to faster-than-usual sell-outs when stocks arrive.
Many have resorted to buying from resellers online, but netizens are flagging inflated prices amid the shortage in official stores.
Groceries and official online retailers price Oatside between โฑ110 to โฑ150. Some resellers tend to sell cartons at โฑ200 to โฑ300 to cash in on the supply shortage.
In a June 19 Threads post, Oatside has already committed to restocking stores in the Philippines soon and encouraged netizens to share which groceries still carry the product.
However, netizens are calling on the company to crack down on hoarders who may have caused the local shortage to begin with. Oatside has not provided any reason for the apparent shortage in Philippine stores over the past month.
