Joe Rogan yells "Holy sh*t!" after Harvard professor of genetics David Sinclair says sudden blindness has DOUBLED because of GLP-1 drugs.

Then Rogan pulls up the data himself — and what he reads out loud is even worse.

SINCLAIR: "Glaucoma and also sudden blindness. It's called NAION, which is now twice as more prevalent because of the GLP-1 drugs."

ROGAN: "And, obviously correlation does not equal causation, but it seems to be."

SINCLAIR: "Yeah, there's a scientist at Harvard. You could look up his work. Joe Rizzo. It looks like it's repeatable across the planet."

ROGAN: "Wow, that's terrible. Terrible because there's so many people out there that are just telling everyone they should get on GLP-1s… Like online podcasters saying, 'Everyone should get on GLP-1s… It's going to transform society.' I'm like, 'We just started taking these! The f*ck are you saying?!'"

SINCLAIR: "Yeah, it's not risk free. Same with ED drugs."

ROGAN: "Here goes. Recent studies suggest that a potential risk — rare link between GLP-1 receptor agonist medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, blah, blah, blah, and… an eye stroke [that] can cause sudden, painless loss of vision in one eye, while absolute risk remains very low."

ROGAN: "Well, very low is like… What does that mean?"

SINCLAIR: "One in 10,000 people."

ROGAN: "One in 10,000?"

SINCLAIR: "Oh no. Total of 10,000."

Scientists have discovered that the fungus Aspergillus tubingensis, isolated from a landfill in Islamabad, Pakistan, can rapidly break down polyurethane, one of the world’s most durable plastics. This material is widely used in insulation, furniture, footwear, coatings, and synthetic leather, and it typically persists in the environment for hundreds of years.

In laboratory tests, the fungus colonizes the surface of polyurethane films, secreting enzymes that disrupt its chemical bonds. Scanning electron microscopy revealed clear signs of degradation, including cracks, pits, and surface erosion. Within just two months in liquid culture, the plastic films were broken down into smaller fragments, with near-complete degradation observed.

This represents the first reported case of A. tubingensis degrading polyurethane. The process is an example of mycoremediation, the use of fungi to clean up environmental pollutants. Other fungi have also shown the ability to use plastics as a primary food source, even in low-oxygen landfill conditions.

Researchers are now exploring the potential of fungal enzymes for large-scale applications, such as bioreactors, to help address the global plastic waste crisis. If scaled effectively, these biological approaches could offer a practical, low-cost method to reduce the billions of tons of persistent plastic accumulating worldwide.

Earth is still in the late Cenozoic ice age, since the start of Antarctic glaciation 34 million years ago. The current Holocene interglacial is the severest part of this ice age glaciation, lasting 2.58 million years.

Global average temperature estimates are 15 degrees. This is up to 10 degrees cooler than the long-term average for the Phanerozoic, for 451 million years.

Today's temperature is estimated to have risen by 1.4 degrees since the end of the Little Ice Age in Europe, which was the coldest spike for 10,000 years. Most of this rise took place before the industrial revolution, and most of it is a realignment. There were still only 1.6 billion people in 1900, too.

Several warm periods during the Holocene were 1-2 degrees warmer than today, as well. None of this variation was due to carbon dioxide levels.

During the last interglacial 130,000 years ago, the world was 2 degrees warmer, and CO2 was still only 285 ppm, compared with 420 today.

The recent CO2 rise is responsible for most of the global greening phenomenon, identified by NASA over the past 20+ years including a spike in agricultural production. This extra leaf area is equal to twice the area of the United States.

So your role as a climate risk expert, based on your post, is on very shaky ground indeed.
