Children are human people. Like other human people, they need varying degrees of freedom & form.
That's why teachers of children are tasked with creating supportive but structured environments within which children can grow & learn safely. To deny them either is a disservice.
I’ve really been trying to make sure to notice the good to help me through those trying times and all the negativity around me. Definitely going to be doing this for March!
Earlier this year, I was pretty ready to be done teaching.
That has since changed. The difference is that, though the problems still exist, I've also become intentional about noticing the good.
If you want to give it a shot, here's a challenge for March.
In 1990, Dr. Rudine Bishop, OSU prof. of edu, wrote: “when there are enough books available that can act as both mirrors and windows for all our children, they can see that we can celebrate our differences and our similarities, because together they are what make us all human.”

Got @KFMSjaguars757 Ss moving around in Mrs. Bradshaw’s 6th grade Science class today! They had to think about how human behavior is affecting the earth and come up with solutions.
@MoniseLSeward We do. 3 core classes (Math and English are everyday, while Science and Social Studies rotate days) that are 90 minute blocks. Then when Ss go to Exploratory or PE, that is planning time.
