I've realized now that's no way to live my life. I don't want to live that way.

The only way I've survived up until now is pretending my time in Japan didn't happen. That's included posting on other sites pretending to be happy, which I'm sure has only added to feelings of bitterness people have towards me. That's valid (7/9)

It's been about a year since I've logged in here.
I want to apologize to everyone I unintentionally burned bridges with. Leaving Japan to move back to the US was the most painful experience of my life. That place, as well as the people I met there, and the (1/9)
and in the way you deserve. You are all lovely people, and I have never stopped caring about you. I have been in the darkest place, but that's not an excuse for being a shitty friend—I only hope it serves as an explanation. You are so valid in having whatever feelings (6/9)
reacted this way, and it makes me ashamed in a lot of ways. It's been hard for me to process.
What I am most upset and ashamed about, though, is the fact that this has led to me leaving friends behind. I sincerely apologize to everyone I haven't kept up with properly (5/9)
to speak to my friends, look at pictures without grief, and continue the hobbies I love that surround Japan. I am working hard, and I'm not 100% there yet, but logging into Twitter has been a big step for me, as stupid as that sounds. I have no idea why my psyche has (4/9)
practice the language, or read manga/watch anime. It brings up such feelings of grief, and so many tears that I haven't been able to force myself to face it.
I have been in therapy in an attempt to process these emotions because the truth is that I really want to be able (3/9)
experiences I had there quite literally saved my life. Having to leave was devastating, truly heart-shattering. I haven't really recovered even now, a year to the day that I left Tokyo.
