I just received an email from my new Congressman, @RobWittman (having just moved from VA05 to VA01) regarding whether he would sign @RepThomasMassie’s discharge petition and support legislation to release the Epstein files.
His unwillingness to answer directly “yes or no” is disappointing.
I’ll be calling his office every day until I get him on the phone. I want an explanation. Unless he sees and responds here…🧐
Thank you very much for the detailed response, Lex, and all of that sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
I am sorry that my post brought the wild accusations out of the woodwork. That was not my intent.
And just in case you didn't see it, I tried to make it clear in my follow-up post that these questions were coming from me and not Dave:

Lol. Drama on X is wild. Scott and I are doing a podcast later this week to dig into Scott's work a lot more, and expand on anything & everything from the Iran debate.
I might as well use this X drama as opportunity to celebrate Scott's work. I have huge respect for Scott and his anti-war writing over the years, and I was & am trying to do all I can to celebrate his ideas and him as a person, as I always do on the podcast. Moderating an intense debate like the Iran one is not easy. We were all severely sleep deprived due to travel & schedules. But, I wanted to do the Iran podcast urgently at that time because I was very worried that the war in Iran would escalate, and Scott is one of the best anti-war voices we have in America.
In general, I try hard to avoid editing. That's why I do 4, 5, 6, 7, 8+ hour podcasts. The part I cut in the Iran debate was where it went off the rails (after ~4 hours), not content-wise, but tone-wise: mockery, interruptions, yelling, etc. Both had very little sleep the night before and were tired and not their best selves as they both said. I cut not because of the content but the style. I try all I can to avoid having that kind of drama on the podcast. Instead, I thought the first 4 hours had a lot of strong rants.
I think people are (rightfully) paranoid about censorship of certain ideas, like criticism of Israel. I don't do that, and I'll never do that. I have criticized Israel a lot (and will continue to do so) and I've had a large number of guests on that criticize Israel for many, many hours.
I talk to people from all perspectives and all walks of life, and always with empathy and rigor. I interviewed people in the West Bank, and will try to talk to Gaza refugees.
People are also saying I edited Dave Smith convo (3.5 hours) down by a lot. I didn't. We had several bathroom breaks during which we just talked off-mic about life, family, friends, etc. I've been a fan of Dave for many years, and we have a lot of mutual friends, but we haven't hung out, so this was a chance to just chill and shoot the shit off-mic & get to know each other.
I'm sure I'll talk to Dave many more times on podcast & off. And, again, Scott and I are doing a solo podcast together later this week to lay it all out, including a lot of his work that we didn't cover.
The accusations against me continue to escalate & are wild (and hilarious). I've been regularly, at scale, accused of being CIA, Mossad, FSB, fascist, communist, Putin-shill, Zelenskyy-shill, Elon-shill, Obama-shill, Jew-shill, Muslim-shill, etc.
I'm none of those things, never will be. I'd rather die than be a shill for anyone. BUT I'm a flawed human being. And when I fuck up, I'll do better.
I look forward to internet's continued drama-farming about me 🍿
My text response to Alex was:
“Alex, my response to all of this will be to tell you to go fuck yourself. I have nothing to prove to you and I won’t be participating in a struggle session.”
@uninfite07199@MaxNordau@ComicDaveSmith Again no war cuz Iran showed restraint. Also nothing you just said is an argument they had nukes or were even close to getting them!
For years I’ve been demanding release of the Epstein files, and I was hopeful this administration would do it. When it recently became apparent that no one was seriously working on it, I moved to force a vote on legislation to release the files. Is your congressman on board?
