Discrimination against LGBT+ people is still far too commonplace - particularly against the trans community.

LGBT+ rights must not be taken for granted. The fight for equality goes on.

Last year as #MayorofSandwell I had the privilege of nominating @NewBeginCom & @SStmichaels 4 a Kings Awards 4 Voluntary Service #KAVS. Yday @brumhippodrome I was overwhelmed to watch them both receive the awards for the hard work that they do in #Sandwell. Congratulations 🥂

Every day, Sunak just sinks lower and lower.

His behaviour is appalling and deeply disturbing, but it's hard to be shocked by this lack of empathy from a man happy to bet on asylum seekers' lives.

@libdemdaisy It just proves that the LGBT+ 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ are constantly under attack. Shame on @RishiSunak He doesn’t need to apologise he needs to RESIGN!

If the actions of our Prime Minister and senior politicians in recent days has taught us anything it is that the LGBT+ community are constantly under attack and used as political football. Please like and share to show your support for our community locally!

February marks LGBT+ History Month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️@LGBTHM. To say that I am extremely disappointed that @sandwellcouncil has chosen not to raise the flag in 2024 to commemorate LGBT+ HM is an understatement. When I was Mayor in 2023 it was such an honour to raise the rainbow flag 🏳️‍🌈

When I was councillor at Sandwell I worked hard to change the historical stance that the council had on Equality and Diversity issues. Unfortunately it seems we are returning to a time of making meaningless piecemeal gestures towards our community.

And just like that with the passing over of the Mayoral Chain, I am an Ex-Mayor (with an Ex-Mayors Consort)! Very mixed emotions. It was an honour to serve @sandwellcouncil I’ve had an amazing time. I did it my way! 🫳🎤

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia #IDAHOBIT Unfortunately I’ve been subject to homophobic actions throughout my life. It’s only by standing up united we can stop this! It’s 1 reason I was so ‘open’ as #MayorofSandwell ⁦⁦⁦⁦

I had a fantastic day at the brilliant Albert Pritchard Inf and Wood Green Jnr schools. I was treated to choir performances, talks and interviewed on their radio show. Even had a lovely school dinner! A memorable day! @APWGWednesbury #MayorofSandwell @sandwellcouncil
