Just because other councils charge doesn’t mean it will work here. Funny conservative government already said this don’t work

Not all streets have CCTV and majority of rubbish dumped is at the dead of night when nobody is around.

@jenmurley @ChrysoPratsides @BarnetCouncil I didn’t either. It’s just another tax on people with gardens. You might think it’s good value but a lot of people are retired, on benefits, or disabled. Not everyone has a car. Everyone has a different situation which is not been taken account of.

I have been reporting rubbish dumped in Watling Avenue for months and the stream. You could empty the sharp bin if you would like to.

@JtTowell @BallardsLane @Sara_Conway3 @BarnetCouncil No but there are some fast food shops which I guess this is from. It is difficult providing a service and not having bins to put the waste in. Most shopping areas have bins for this.The armchair can’t be from the shops and you can bet it was dumped at night or early morning !!

@Sidders72 @Sara_Conway3 @BarnetCouncil I think fines are not the right way to go. It would be hard to find the culprits. Even if the shops are charged for the bins I’m sure that shopkeepers could get together and pay a small contribution each. For 4 bins would not cost that much. The council is paying now to remove.

@Sara_Conway3 @BarnetCouncil Thanks Sara. Must be easier if council had a couple of bins on each side of the road at the top, and bottom of Watling Avenue. These could be emptied once a week, and then the council workers can concentrate keeping the road swept of litter and cigarette butts. Look better.

@filosofical_140 @JtTowell @Sara_Conway3 @BarnetCouncil Also senior citizens have to find money for tv licenses this year, and everyone will pay 3.99% council tax increase. Many other bills will be going up to. It makes it a very hard to budget for some people, & others on minimum wage. Expect you have a good income and can cover it.

@filosofical_140 @JtTowell @Sara_Conway3 @BarnetCouncil I’m not a labour voter just a concerned resident who wonders how some of the people of the borough are going to pay money out on short notice, especially when we have many senior citizens, disabled, and people on benefits. Also should we not be more environmentally friendly.

@EnvAgencySE @BarnetCouncil @Sara_Conway3 Barnet council own the land but not doing anything about it. This is an environmental issue and requires attention. If you are not prepared to take this up then the council will not act and rectify the problem. I would hate to think how much rubbish has gone into the stream.
