In the run up to the 2024 election, in 2022 Starmer posed with a card saying "I support fair and fast compensation for 1950s women" e236

Rachel Reeves, Angela Rayner and Liz Kendall all backed WASPI when they were in opposition too. Rayner even said in 2019:

"They [the government] stole their pensions...we've said we'd right that injustice"

Then in December 2024, after winning the election, Starmer's Government said it would not pay compensation. Starmer said at PMQs that taxpayers "simply cannot afford the tens of billions of pounds" and that 90% knew about the changes.
That was never true !

The Ombudsman had recommended up to £2,950 each - about £10.5bn total - because of the 28-month delay in writing to women. The Government admitted that delay and apologised, but refused to pay.

That's why even Labour MPs like Diane Abbott called it a betrayal - she said: "Promising one thing in Opposition and doing the opposite in Government is a betrayal"

Labour Fails on the Early-Release Scheme, Blood on Their Hands

A 42-year-old mother of two was stabbed to death by Robert Sabat, 60, a repeat violent offender released from prison after serving just 40% of his sentence. We warned Labour about the dangers of early release. We fought against it. They did not listen. Now a woman is dead. Labour must be held accountable for the consequences of its decisions.

The solutions are simple. Deport foreign criminals wherever legally possible, reduce the female prison estate and convert suitable prisons into male prisons. Stop releasing dangerous offenders to free up prison spaces. Labour were warned, and Labour failed to protect the public. How many more innocent people must die before this Government listens?
