@derrenm@TallShipsRaces@AbdnInspired@AberdeenCC@PortofAberdeen@CBRE_UK granted to an extent. I’ve heard visitors describe it as a “fruit bowl in the city centre” because of the ships.
There aren’t many cities benefit from a harbour right in the heart of their city, just steps away from the main Street.
We really should push to benefit from it.
@derrenm@TallShipsRaces@AbdnInspired@AberdeenCC@PortofAberdeen@CBRE_UK enable Regent Quay to come to life. South facing, historically occupied by bars, bypassed by Virginia Street, at least some of the buildings in the ownership of the harbour board.
Links the beach to the city in a different way.
I’m all for it.
We take the harbour for granted
@akawakeford No need to bow. A wee curtsy will suffice. Seriously though, it very subjective, something I call grotesquely overdeveloped, might be the density we need in the city centre.
I fully agree it would be transformative, and it should be.
🤞🏻 the market ticks a transformative box.
@akawakeford I can’t imagine the outdoor escalator being operational for long. We struggle to keep standard steps maintained.
But you’re spot on about it being a vital link.
Maybe the student projects obliterating it were right all along. The owner might not agree.
@akawakeford I think this proposal has been around for a few years. When they were approving big buildings at the back of the Douglas Hotel and the Market site.
It seems like grotesque over-development to me. Reminds me of the images of massive dense Hong Kong high-rises.
@MarkGordonMedia The roof looks boufin, but as a fan you’d never see that angle. I’d like to see the view from the same side. The two images are from opposite sides. Presumably they’ve saved the historic facade & entrance.
Critical is bringing the ends in from the horrible ‘hampden curve’
