Easily the best book I’ve read all year, Xenophon's "Anabasis" deserves to be an HBO series.
Betrayed, defeated, and lost in hostile territory, a young man takes charge of 10,000 Hoplite warriors after all their generals are murdered, and leads them home to Greece.
5 Things:
You can tell “Tartaria” is a conservative conspiracy theory because nobody in that community ever wonders what the food tasted like.
Liberals would be more into reviving this lost civilization if it meant cuisine that wasn’t just non-GMO bread and variations on borscht soup.
Jesuit missionaries be like: let us translate your sacred text on impartial cosmic forces and “show you how it’s really about" a middle eastern messiah and obeying the fish hat man in the Vatican.
@QuixoteSword Suffice to say, if Nolan really just wanted to do a movie set in mythological Greece about how strangers should/shouldn’t treat each other, a way better choice would have been Oedipus.
@QuixoteSword I got my narratives a little mixed up tbh. Dante has him sailing off again out of restlessness. I think of that final quest to bury an oar as like his retirement party.
@QuixoteSword This explains why he didn’t bother to make the prequel first. I’m still convinced that ultimately The Iliad is about growing up and The Odyssey is about growing old.
I'm starting to give up on this idea of a universal interface for my AI. I believe it's more valuable now to choose the interface that best fits the work we're doing.
That said, I do believe that in almost any space, a persistent memory across interfaces is key.
@QuixoteSword Thank you so much for doing so and sorry for the absence. I took July off to plan my wife's 40th. Am making repairs and hoping to get some images into the game. Hope you are well, friend.
How you do one thing is how you do everything. In this game, how you answer these five questions will decide the fate of history: https://t.co/IyhjIQo0QO
Not gonna lie, getting this online was way harder than I'd thought. The internet isn't as free for amateur game builders as it used to be. Good news is, sites like Neocities still offer hope.
