โPresident Mahama sent 300 Ghanaians back to Ghana. Tell me how many jobs have been created since then. These foreigners do the jobs you donโt want to do and are often underpaid. You refuse to do these so-called โslave jobsโ because you want jobs with benefits and pensions, yet you still claim foreigners are taking your jobs, which is not true.โ

"Ghanaians are gone now, 300 of them. How many 300 jobs were created after the Ghanaians left."
Julius Malema says blaming migrants for job losses deepens colonial divisions and that Ghanaโs response risks blaming entire societies for the actions of a few people.

โIn Gabon the Iboga drug is considered a national treasure and a core part of the spiritual practice Missoko Bwiti, which is said to be the beginning of psycho-spiritual healing.
Since 1990's the drug has been popular for those seeking enlightenment, with shamans such as Bwiti house founder, Moughenda Mikala, who charges $15,000 or more for treatments that last up to 2 weeks.
So why is the President of the United States taking an interest in a traditional psychedelic from this west African nation?โ

Following the recent fire at the old Jute Factory in Tycor, Waterford city on Saturday evening (May 9th), asbestos-containing materials (ACM) have been identified in the fire-damaged structure and debris.
As a result of the fire and associated smoke plume, a limited amount of fire debris is understood to have been deposited on surrounding footpaths and roadways within the general vicinity of the site.
A specialist contractor has been appointed to conduct a precautionary clean-up of the affected external areas, and an independent asbestos consultancy has been appointed to monitor the environment throughout the remediation works.

Thrilled to share that l have successfully presented my final year research poster at SETU Waterford, a huge milestone in Public Health & Health Promotion degree.
This project, the culmination of two semesterโs hard work, explored the lived experiences of college students balancing part-time work alongside their studies. This project pushed me to think deeper about wellbeing, consequences, and the everyday realities many students quietly navigate.
A topic close to my heart as a migrant student navigating those same challenges in Ireland โ adapting to a new system, building confidence, and finding my voice in academic spaces. But moments like this remind me why I started.
A massive thank you to my incredible advisor Rosie Donnelly for her unwavering support, sharp feedback, guidance, patience, and constant encouragement throughout this process. Your support made all the difference.
A heartfelt thank you as well to all participants who shared their experiences so openly, and to my peers who inspired me along the way, your stories are at the heart of this research.
This project represents not just what I have learned, but who I am becoming โ a public health professional committed to understanding and improving real lives.
Hereโs to turning challenges into growth.
