Act Now! Join me in asking our members of Congress to protect and strengthen vital nutrition programs. #EndHunger@bread4theworld https://t.co/sIFD8JgSEv
Act Now: On November 1, without immediate action by Congress, funding for SNAP, WIC, and free and reduced-price school meals will run out. Please email your members of Congress; urge them to negotiate an immediate end to the government shutdown. #EndHunger @https://bread.org
Today, our country feels leaderless. The temperature is rising, anger is boiling over, and truth itself feels fragile. But here’s the truth: each of us can step into that absence. Each of us, in our own way, can be the kind of leader this moment demands. Call it pastoring, call it tending, call it guiding whatever word resonates. Real leaders don’t bully or extort. They don’t pit us against each other. They listen. They allow silence. They speak truth. They hold space for grief and for hope. And every single one of us is capable of that kind of leadership right now, in our own lives.
.@JamesTalarico: At this moment in our nation’s history, we need fighters, not folders. Imagine a Democratic Party that stands up to Big Money and isn’t captured by it. Imagine a Democratic Party that delivers and defeats the right-wing extremists who have taken over this country
Right now, millions in Gaza, Sudan, Haiti, Mali, and South Sudan are at risk of famine or already experiencing life-threatening levels of food insecurity. Urge Congress to robustly fund lifesaving humanitarian aid programs. #EndHunger@bread4theworld https://t.co/ZR6d6oREMy

.@JamesTalarico: I think the most revolutionary teaching in my religion is the teaching to love your enemy. We are called to love our opponents as much as we love ourselves. I see my opponents as children of God
*** Statement on the Murder of Charlie Kirk ***
By Shane Claiborne
My heart goes out to Charlie Kirk’s family and all who loved him… especially his wife, Erika, and their two precious children. We must never rejoice in death. My faith teaches me not just to refuse to kill, but also to refuse to hate. And so this is a somber moment. Charlie Kirk was someone’s child, someone’s husband, someone’s dad… and he is a child of God, made in the image of God.
Critical famine risk in Gaza. Support @RESCUEorg. The International Rescue Committee helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and regain control of their future. https://t.co/EoHffMEr0C
Bread for the World is extremely disappointed by congressional passage of the White House’s rescissions request, which significantly cuts funding for lifesaving international assistance programs including emergency humanitarian relief and United Nations programs such as UNICEF.
The Lancet has reported that funding cuts for international humanitarian aid programs already initiated by the White House could cause more than 14 million additional deaths by 2030. Many more people will suffer and die due to these additional funding cuts.

A difficult challenging but necessary action—call for Justice not charity.
"Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice." - Nelson Mandela. On #MandelaDay, we're inspired by his call for justice. It's why we advocate for policies that ensure nourishment for all. #EndHunger#Justice#BreadForTheWorld
