You're right, it's wrong to put people into boxes

But it's also wrong to go on national TV and spew half truths, misinformation, and populist far right tropes

E.g. you talk about asylum seekers staying in 4 star hotels. It's not a hotel in the way you might think of it as multiple people will stay in the same room, and the food provided is not just basic but often the same day in day out

Your use of the phase suggests a life of luxury, no asylum seeker lives in luxury

If anything, we should be angry at the Conservatives for cutting assessors resulting in the need to put asylum seekers in hotels

And then angry at them again for making a number of hotel owners very rich with these contracts for asylum seekers e.g. Clearsprings Ready Homes and Serco both have contracts in excess of £1 billion

But here's the thing, as someone is isn't as vocal about politics as you are, for you to feel certain frustrations and to speak out the way you did today, that shows there's a failure of clear proper explanations coming through to everyday people

So I ask that the frustrations you have you raise them with people with more knowledge of the asylum system, so you aren't caught up in the web of hysteria, misinformation, and in some cases outright lies

Because if well known and otherwise well respected personalities such as yourself are getting it wrong, then conversation and dialogue really does need to improve

And if you'd like to have a conversation on the subject, we have some mutual friends, and I'm sure we could all meet up for tea and and cakes one day, express our concerns and find a better way forward for all of us

You need a national insurance number to claim benefits or work. Asylum seekers do not have one.

No free phone (or Ipads). Occasionally, sims, or recycled phones are provided by charities.

Right now in Kyiv, first responders are clearing the rubble of an ordinary residential building after a Russian strike. Another massive attack against our cities and communities. Killings again. Tragically, at least 8 people have already been confirmed dead. One of them is a child. My condolences to all their families and loved ones.

People may still be trapped under the rubble. Dozens are wounded. These Russian missiles and attack drones today are a clear response to everyone in the world who, for weeks and months, has been calling for a ceasefire and for real diplomacy. Russia chooses ballistics instead of the negotiating table. It chooses to continue killing instead of ending the war. And this means that Russia still does not fear the consequences. Russia still takes advantage of the fact that at least part of the world turns a blind eye to murdered children and seeks excuses for Putin.

We expect a reaction from China to what is going on. China has repeatedly called for not expanding the war and for a ceasefire. Yet this is not happening because of Russia. We expect a reaction from Hungary. The death of children should definitely stir far greater emotions than anything else. We expect a response from everyone in the world who has called for peace but now more often stays silent rather than taking principled positions.

And it is definitely time for new, tough sanctions against Russia for everything it is doing. All deadlines have already been broken, dozens of opportunities for diplomacy ruined. Russia must feel accountable for every strike, for every day of this war. Eternal memory to all victims of Russia!
