@grove@pilhofer@StarTribune Very, very cool! The Strib is one of the few newspapers I felt excited and optimistic about. And that was before this news.
Hey, if anyone I know is on BlueSky (one of a bunch of Twitter alternatives), lemme know and/or find me here: https://t.co/IKflhgDJ54. Thanks to my new friend Shannon Wells (https://t.co/RFRyepaxKu) for hooking me up!
@slinganswers The volume on Sling seems to rise and fall randomly. And on different channels, so it seems like it must be a Sling issue. What should I do?
Hot job alert: Assistant director of Medill/Northwestern's new Local News Accelerator: https://t.co/SUaR49w2MZ
You'll work with the accelerator's new director, Mackenzie Warren. More about him and the accelerator here: https://t.co/XxxKejjYkl
Amazing students -- that's why I love @MedillSchool's MSJ program in Media Innovation & Content Strategy. Introducing our latest cohort! https://t.co/CsqW8vQvsN
@LauraJaneGrace The Bee Gees are hugely underrated. Amazing songwriting and vocals through multiple eras and genres. Their early 60s stuff holds up — as does their disco era work (unlike much of that genre).
@aschweig Poll coverage drives me crazy. There are tons of interesting stories in poll data; the “horserace” aspect is the *least* of it. But that is all the journalists focus on, while campaigns are mining the data for insights to drive their strategy.
I’m grateful to Medill faculty, staff and colleagues – past and present – for giving me an intellectual home and helping me learn so much. I am sure they will make Ashir feel welcome as he takes on his new responsibilities.
Some professional (and personal) news!
After almost 23 years on the @MedillSchool faculty -- and leader of Medill’s digital publishing MSJ track (now the Media Innovation & Content Strategy specialization) – I am beginning to wind down my Medill responsibilities.
🧵
My favorite part of the @MedillSchool experience: The students, particularly the MSJs who chose the digital publishing track in its various forms. They have been smart, curious and motivated – and many are now inventing the future of media and journalism.
