Richmond, we're expecting high heat today. Those who work outdoors need to watch out for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Also. we have a slight risk (2 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms with the possibility of wind and hail this afternoon into evening (3-10 p.m.).
We are also expecting some severe weather later today, mainly in the later afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out across our far northern counties as well.
Richmond has a marginal risk for severe weather this afternoon. Please take precautions for possible wind and hail and make sure you have multiple ways to get notifications.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the James River in Richmond. Residents and visitors are warned to AVOID all use of the James River. Some roads and areas are closed due to anticipated flooding.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH has been issued for Richmond beginning at noon today through this evening. Numerous scattered thunderstorms are expected. The recdent heavy rainfall will increase the chance of rapid water rise in creeks, streams, low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Heads up! Severe weather and heavy rainfall (potentially leading to flooding) are both possible today. The main threat with any stronger storms will be wind gusts of 60 mph or greater. The highest flood risk is roughly along and east of I-95. Stay weather aware today!
