As a debugging accident I made a global map of the largest watershed in each continent.* Is this map enough context to tell which is which? (*Antarctica can get back to me when it's got liquid surface water)

DOE spends $6b/yr in nuclear waste cleanup efforts with the largest being the Hanford nuclear site costing $550b over 60 yrs. The entire EPA’s 2021 budget is just over $9 billion. I didn't realize that total climate collapse was only 33% more important than old nuclear waste.

Getting to be a fan of GeoPandas (the software library, not the WWF mascot). Just found that you can index via *bounding box coordinates!!!* rather than just a spatial join. Cut my runtime from 3+ hours to 35 minutes.

I've been making a bunch of graphs to understand how my neural nets are training and I sort of love this one. It's a garbage model to predict carbon based on lat/lng, so you don't expect a good correlation, but look at the hidden plane rotation. It's really pretty.

p.s. Echo had a good idea so I put one of those refreezable cooling/heating pads you put in your cooler for camping underneath his mat. Look at how little the heat lamp comes on now (green is on red is off). #energysavings?

I added Hungry Boi's terrarium to our home automation system. (some know him as Echo). Toss in a temperature sensor and some code to keep it between 86-90F. But then wanna guess what caused this BIG dip in the temp?

It was his chonky tail.... No surprise I guess since for the first time in a long time that sensor was his IDEAL body temperature so he just figured out how to sit on it. The dip was just his body acting as a thermal buffer.
