@fi_collins @thehistoryguy Amazing. Can safely say that I’m exactly the same. We can only hope that the younger generations are still taught about this part of our history. And @wharfhousegrdnr will really appreciate these.
Also remembering the less famous ‘Wooden Horse’ escape. Grandpa - a cartographer - drew maps for the escapees (‘paints’ created from crushed up Red Cross packaging). Here’s one of his originals. Level of detail is mind-blowing, as is the ingenuity & bravery of the POWs involved.
@Richwetherell Yep, horrifying what they’re doing with #HS2 and in the height of breeding season. Ancient woodland is a rapidly-depleting ecological wonder, likely been in situ since the last ice age. It cannot be replaced or replicated and once it’s gone it’s gone.
It makes no sense that I can soon meet my family in a car showroom or a garden centre, but us sitting apart in the garden is banned.
That has no scientific or logical basis.
The Government are pleading with us to show some common sense - it needs to work both ways.
