Community Currency has recently been awarded a @ThrivePolygon Season 1 Consumer Crypto Grant, and we’re thrilled to have them! 🎉

Their project has been designed to seamlessly encourage Reddit users to make the jump to web3.

They do this through their off-chain points system that rewards users for posting quality content, based on feedback from the community.

These off-chain points can be converted to on-chain tokens 🪙 through a “withdraw” comment that sends tokens to their wallet address.

From the user's perspective, their Reddit experience doesn't change. But the tokens provide an incentive for users to check out web3, bringing new users to the ecosystem. 🌐

It also incentivizes posters to produce quality content, making the subreddit more engaging for the community.

The Community Currency Team is excited to use the grant to continue developing their platform on @0xPolygon and has recently launched a MATIC faucet that enables new users to interact on-chain with no friction!

Let’s talk about what it means to have a solution focused mindset 🙂‍↕️

When you have a solution focused mindset instead of only focusing on the problem you think “how can I fix this?”

Instead of looking for other people to blame you think “how can I fix this and who can I ask for help?”

Rather than getting overwhelmed by the situation you think to yourself “what is the first action I can take to make this situation better?”

Action, accountability and a feeling of responsibility for moving forward will save you a lot of time and heartache in your life?

Not aimed at any specific project, but have seen a ton of discourse recently on the topic so figured I’d share my take on good token distributions:

1) tokens, not points

2) don’t farm the farmers - teasing and creating ambiguity around a token distribution to grow your numbers is bad behavior. If you don’t know yet, don’t speculate publicly. If you do know but are not ready to share full details, don’t tease them out. Just share real details when ready

3) real liquidity day 1 - low float tokens are malicious and my biggest pet peeve. You don’t need to work with exchanges or market makers. It’s so easy. Just distribute enough tokens publicly that real price discovery happens on DEX. People should start thinking in FDV not mcap when valuing these things

4) don’t create absurdly high token supply to farm people with unit bias, this is also bad behavior

5) don’t be stingy - give a significant amount away. If you don’t think the community deserves a significant amount, don’t release a token

6) don’t market token price - if you tweet about how your token is going to moon or hire influencers, or marketing firms to do so I assume you’re just trying to get rich quick vs build real value

7) keep it simple

8) put real thought and care into your decisions - so you can stand behind them and explain your rationale. Don’t end up in a situation where you’re fighting or apologizing to crypto twitter. Create something you’re proud of and stand behind it

Let me make it clear:

Shitcoins are part of what crypto is in its current state, for better or for worse. They do not serve a higher purpose other than the pursuit of monetary gain via PVP.

This is ok.

What isn't ok is pretending that it is any different than walking into a casino and putting 100 on black / entertaining the idea that have some higher, white-knight purpose such as onboarding or mass adoption.
