If you've been following our story on Lulu, you'll know we do everything possible for the dogs we've rescued from the streets. We have so little in donations now that we are finding it very difficult to continue 😩 It takes such a small amount from a lot of people to keep us going ( the price of a coffee). I hate to beg, but here we are. I'll crawl on my hands and knees over hot coals for our rescues, if that's what it takes! I'm currently making little dresses and bags for a one off market day in August, just to try to pull a little bit more in (on top of everything else). Getting between 3-4 hours sleep a night. I'm exhausted 😭 PLEASE help me to help them 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Anyone who's followed us for a while knows what a huge difference your donations make. We need so many repairs doing to the main shelter that it's frightening. We just don't have anything spare at all.
Now, take a look at our little trooper, Lulu and see the amazing progress she's made 😍 It's been a slow journey, but we were told by the vet it would be, but the journey has taken her from being virtually paralysed to where she is today 💪🏼🐶 There's still a little way to go, but she's going to get there! Usually, I do not post about my work, I do not want or like being the focus, it is for me first and foremost about the Deaf community having access.
However, the Channel 4 Paralympics event last night showed that Deaf Interpreters are the perfect candidate for PlatformInterpreting work, with the right equipment it is possible and easily achievable. My focus however is calling to action Hearing Interpreters to advocate, highlight and bring awareness to Agencies, businesses and people who are booking BSL for platform, conference and TV events that Deaf Interpreters would be the ideal person as BSL is our first language.
So, to all BSL Interpreters be an advocate an ally to us, work with us together and campaign for change and ignite the fire to have a call to action, to be united and work together but also to ensure Deaf Interpreters have the opportunity to be at the forefront of these interpreting roles. @Channel4 @ParalympicsGB @ASLIuk @BDA_Deaf
