I couldn't figure out how to get the late 2023 game in my search, but from the start of 2024:

- Bulldogs' scoring rate (points per 100) from turnovers v Hawthorn: 18th in the league*
- Bulldogs' scoring rate from turnovers v non-Hawthorn teams: 1st in the league*

(*if maintained over the full time period, etc, etc)

Who knows how long Carlton's current level lasts, but walking out of the G it's struck me that the simplest way to explain it is they're now just playing modern footy. All the little tweaks just circle back to that. In the space of three weeks.

Would love to learn what conversations happened over the summer at Essendon that led to the defensive system we've seen this year. Who was involved and how it went down, because (imo) nearly everything on-field this year circles back to that system not being fit for purpose.
