@tammy2910@KirstieMAllsopp@Pdrewy So where do you draw the line? After all, a 20 year old has 2 more years life experience than an 18 year old. The frontal lobe development runs til 25 (however much weight we should give that research conclusion), so maybe no independence til that age?
@jk_rowling The original post reflects a misunderstanding. Too many think sex is your genetics. But sex is what type of sex cell your body is designed to produce (even if some bodies can’t). Genes guide the developmental process. They aren’t the thing itself. Confusing outcome and cause.
@BrackleyJ I teach final year evolutionary psychology, my exam was marked by a perception scientist and a cognitive psychologist and then moderated by a neuroscientist. My expertise discarded as irrelevant by my dept.
@MarianMayer20 @UCUBU@ucusouth How you ignore a strong desire for consultation and call it democracy astonishes me. Good members are considering quitting over the pig headed behaviour of HEC. If the case is so good, trust the members to reject the deal.
Very worrying. “… it emerged that the Guardian, BBC, Daily Mirror, Independent & i newspaper were not invited [on Rwanda trip]. The home secretary will be accompanied by journalists from organisations including GB News, Daily Mail and Telegraph”

@SeanAWallis@cupofassam@UcuLeft HEC chose which of the two parts of the ballot to respect. They went with continuing the dispute and not consulting members. Now you think everyone will mindlessly continue the strike. #notyourpawn
@Tilley101@ucu There is no logic to considering an offer and striking at the same time unless you have been forced by the employer to consult for some reason. An offer that might be acceptable shouldn’t waste members income or the strike fund.
@rodney_forster@ucu People will vote with their feet. This is a horrible decision by HEC. I’m not there pawn sacrificing my income when it will serve no purpose. It will just waste strike fund resources that could be better used for an MAB if the membership rejected the current offer.
@angryenby@StevePeers@UCUCommons It was shamelessly rigged but the message is still clear. HEC could have put their views forward while not blocking a consultation. Instead, they shut down debate and are treating members like pawns.
@Mattia800 @UCUCommons Democratic governments sometimes pass bills that a majority disagree with. The government may follow procedures but that don’t make it right. Still an undemocratic action. How is this any different?
@daraobriain@GaryLineker Sensible progress that shouldn't've needed this furore. Made me realise the pretence of BBC impartiality actually just clouds things. We'd be better off knowing where BBC staff stand on issues so we can take into account as they do their job. Current approach creates a pretence.
@MarinaHyde At this stage, we’d all be better served by letting BBC staff show their colours rather than pretend to be impartial. Then we can know where they stand and take that into account when they are on the telly.
@henrywinter@premierleague Outrage by some on Lineker’s tweet ignores he regularly tweets like this. Everyone knows his views anyway. Can’t harm impartially if views already known. But Tory response looks like they want to get him, have for a while. Trying to silence him by using their leverage of BBC.
@justliamm We’re all capable of being hypocrites, so what? doesn’t make what the BBC did right. That’s why we need free speech and criticism of the government.
