@IanKennedyCK i've unfollowed all my women's hockey accounts, except yours. thanks for your good work (from a former longtime sports writer and editor)
@jaredbook that was indeed an incredible feat. but what is happening in the PWHL rn is ridiculous, especially with the release of the draft order and the new teams even getting more of an advantage. i can't invest this much into what's becoming a joke of a league
@jaredbook fundamentally i think the PWHL got it wrong by allowing the existing teams to get gutted. the expansion teams should have had a harder time accumulating talent, as with the last 2 NHL expansions. definitely not looking forward to next season as much
@IanKennedyCK@TheMikeSalk the lack of draft order also smacks of favoritism, as in they can "help" other teams and disadvantage others. already they have seemingly allowed a trade involving a draft pick, when it was understood that picks weren't movable.
@valessondra11 yasss. the last 2 NHL expansions, the existing teams were able to protect more players. the PWHL has wrecked the 8 teams in the name of establishing balance. what’s wrong with the new teams having to build more?
@IanKennedyCK and ofc there's the matter of LV apparently getting DET's first-round pick. how to fairly determine the order after the trade is announced is a can of worms of their own doing.
allowing the trading of draft picks is another rule they made up on the fly.
@IanKennedyCK haha i'd argue the PWHL is kinda making up some of these rules as it's going along (draft order?), so why not after the fact — especially when compensating Boston is a matter of fairness
@IanKennedyCK as for following the rules, it seems Marmer could have worked a deal to trade a first-rounder to an expansion team claiming Muller to get her back. because it seems the PWHL would have allowed that, even though it's against the spirit of the rules.
@IanKennedyCK how realistic is that Roque and Eldridge, who are besties from their Sirens days, are angling to be signed by the same team? could the Fleet realistically afford both? Boston did shed Muller's salary.
@IanKennedyCK if they had wanted to wait to see which teams lost the most players during expansion to help determine the order, they should have stated so.
to not state what should be obvious — Gold Plan teams drafting first and then TOR — is a travesty and a disservice
@RebelTransbian same same. i hope i will still have enough enthusiasm to support the Fleet (watched every game live), but i must admit that i will be following the league a little less moving forward. not excited for rest of expansion, draft, rest of offseason
