We are now hearing that the gunman who the police went for, may have not been at the house or escaped.
It is now being said that the dad killed was a licensed firearm holder.
Sigh 😞
STATEMENT BY THE HON. JULIET CUTHBERT-FLYNN, OD, MP, MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL SECURITY AND PEACE, ON THE DEADLY ATTACK IN SLIGOVILLE, ST. CATHERINE
I condemn in the strongest possible terms the brutal and deadly attack on members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force during a police operation in Sligoville, St. Catherine, which claimed the life of Corporal Trevoy Shaw and left another officer critically injured.
I extend my deepest condolences to Corporal Shaw's family, loved ones, and colleagues, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. My thoughts and prayers are also with the injured officer and his family, as I pray for his full and speedy recovery.
This attack is a stark reminder of the grave dangers our police officers confront daily as they work to protect our citizens and safeguard our communities. These brave men and women leave their families each day with the expectation of returning home safely. No family should have to endure the heartbreak of losing a loved one who answered the call to serve and protect.
Let me be unequivocal. Violence against our security forces is an attack on the very institutions entrusted with protecting our people and upholding law and order. Such acts of criminality cannot and will not be tolerated.
As Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security and Peace, I stand firmly in solidarity with the leadership and members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. We remain unwavering in our commitment to support our security personnel and ensure those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice.
Those who seek to intimidate our security forces and undermine the safety of our communities must never be allowed to prevail. Our resolve to confront violent crime and protect the Jamaican people remains steadfast.
Today, we mourn a brave officer who gave his life in service to Jamaica. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
May Corporal Shaw's soul rest in peace, and may his family and colleagues find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Near tears listening to SSP Dennis Brooks on Beyond the Headlines tak about how the gun men in Sligoville used a child as a shield in the gun battle against the police this morning. And shot two police men in the process - one fatally. Evil of the highest order.
And yet..You could share information until thy kingdom come, there’ll be someone who does not read, wait on others to give their take and they just run with that or those who have no interest in what was shared, they already formed their (uninformed) opinion anyway
RIP Dervan Malcolm, #Jamaican broadcast journalist, radio host, and public speaker best known as producer and host of the current affairs programme Both Sides of the Story on Power 106 FM in Kingston, Jamaica.
Malcolm’s entry into broadcasting grew out of his early success in performing arts. While a student and head boy at Calabar High School, a performance at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s Festival of the Performing Arts drew attention that led to his media debut: he read his first newscast on Power 106 FM on October 24, 1993.
He went on to build a long career with Independent Radio Company, the operator of Power 106 FM and the adult contemporary station Music 99 FM; both later absorbed into the RJRGleaner Communications Group. Over more than three decades with the company, Malcolm held roles including news presenter, news editor, sportscaster, talk show producer, and executive producer of programming.
Since March 2007, he hosted Both Sides of the Story, a current affairs programme he described as furthering a personal mission to educate, empower, enlighten, and encourage entrepreneurship.
He also hosted The Jamaican Diaspora Live Online, a Saturday-morning broadcast focused on issues affecting Jamaicans living abroad, and conducted numerous live broadcasts from diaspora communities internationally.
Malcolm’s advocacy work centered on road safety and child protection. In November 2014, the City of Los Angeles and the Jamaica Awareness Association of California honoured him for his contributions to that organization. He later received the Bickle Award from Team Jamaica Bickle in recognition of his journalism and service to the Jamaican diaspora.
Beyond broadcasting, Malcolm worked as a master of ceremonies, motivational speaker, and theatre practitioner, with experience as an actor, stage manager, and voice-over artist.

1. This is my suggestion run NaRRA out of a 1 bedroom Apartment all that is needed is a laptop and wifi work from home 🏠.
2. Give the CEO a salary package of about $18k JMD a week
3. Give him a JUTC bus card so him get extra discount when moving around.
4. Go to the west and just hand out some money 💰 make the people them feel nice. 😊
5. Patch some roads and paint up two schools
6. Buy 5 sheet sets for the hospitals 🏥 for Christmas 🤶
7. Buy some beer 🍺 and some food and go live pan TikTok show them say NaRRA a work people them a feel it in a them pocket.
Job done simple maths.
Jamaican people think NaRRA is a Patty shop or Stall downtown so a just vibes, yall need to stop this madness and let the agency start imagining tearing down an agency that’s in it’s infancy it barely born and only thing you see is criticism and outrage pure hatred and badmind from all sides.
Mayor Richard Vernon’s presentation was absolutely brilliant. He has set a standard for other municipal corporations to follow. The bar has been raised 👏 👏
The Jamaica Labour Party takes note of the public announcement by Councillor for the May Pen North Division, Tanya-Lee Williams of her intention to join another political party.
