Absolutely. I went deep dive on this. There are lots of angles out there, you can stopwatch the play and all sorts of things. There are explanations on why the NBC broadcast slowly diverts from the pregame "sync."
I went into it believing Western Michigan got screwed but after reviewing it all and talking to experts, there was time left. There just was. Michigan deserved the extra play.
The replay protocols were not followed - which is what the MAC protested and the NCAA is saying - but in real life, in the actual stadium, under the actual clock, Michigan won.
Believe whatever you want, doesn't matter to me. In the end this is a game that is always imprecise - spotting the ball, the clock, etc - so expecting it to be precise at the end might be too much. But the facts are the facts here.
Michigan's play that "shouldn't have had time added back" took less than 9 seconds to run -- from snap until the defender touched the ball. The officials were right to put time back on the clock.
Watch it with a basketball-style countdown:
NEW: Michigan's Kyle Whittingham on the Ohio State rivalry:
"I just think that a rivalry can be intense and emotional without the hatred factor. I don’t think there’s any place for that, personally."

BREAKING - Warde Manuel is OUT as Michigan Athletic Director.
The university is negotiating terms of his release. An announcement is expected this week.
BREAKING: University of Michigan coach Dusty May has agreed to become the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell me, @AdamSchefter, @PeteThamel. Major college-to-pro jump for the 2026 NCAA championship coach and swing for the Mavericks and Masai Ujiri.
“We have one spot, we’re just waiting and taking a wait-and-see approach with Morez and certainly anticipating him having a difficult decision because of how well he’s played in Chicago, but we’ll support him, and then if he does stay in, we’ll be prepared to pivot. We like our team regardless, but obviously, he raises our ceiling like Yax did last year.” -- Dusty May on the state of the roster.
