The Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise is a government organization that provides quality assurance services for products and services. It operates based on international procedures and systems, delivering certification services to manufacturers, service providers, exporters, importers, regulatory authorities, research institutions, and the wider consumer community.
In the Dire Dawa area, in addition to the quality assurance services that were previously being provided to manufacturers and service providers, as well as services related to the free trade zone and the dry port, the enterprise has expanded accessibility by establishing a new testing laboratory. This laboratory enables the provision of quality assurance services for edible oils, petroleum or fuel products, various food products, cosmetic and detergent products, and different construction materials and inputs.
It is my great honour and pleasure to welcome Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Ethiopia as we co-host the Second Italy–Africa Summit.
This occasion represents more than a diplomatic gathering; it symbolizes the deepening partnership between Italy and African nations; a partnership grounded in mutual respect, shared responsibility, and a common vision for sustainable growth. Prime Minister Meloni’s visit underscores our collective commitment to strengthening cooperation across trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and innovation.
Today, I welcomed @JoWadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, for meaningful discussions on further strengthening the partnership between Ethiopia and Germany.
To sustain Ethiopia’s rapid aviation growth and Ethiopian Airlines’ expanding global network, a new mega hub is being developed alongside Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, which is nearing its expanded capacity of 25 million passengers annually. This multi-airport strategy aims to future-proof Ethiopia’s role as Africa’s leading air transport gateway.
Bishoftu International Airport (BIA) will be the largest aviation infrastructure project in Africa’s history. It aligns with Ethiopia’s national economic reforms, industrialization agenda, and long-term aviation strategy. The project will strengthen Ethiopian Airlines’ global competitiveness, enhance Africa’s connectivity under the AfCFTA framework, expand trade and tourism corridors, and position Ethiopia as a premier intercontinental hub.
Located about 40 km southeast of Addis Ababa at an altitude of 1,910 meters, Bishoftu offers optimal conditions for aircraft performance and efficient handling of both origin-destination and transit passengers. Proximity to the capital ensures seamless integration with the existing aviation ecosystem. The first phase of the airport will handle 60 million passengers per year, with an ultimate master plan capacity of 110 million passengers annually, placing Ethiopia among the world’s top aviation hubs.
Ethiopia shines! 🇪🇹 The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) inauguration stuns the world. A monumental achievement for Africa’s largest hydropower project, powering progress and unity. #GERD#EthiopiaRising#AfricanPride
I had the pleasure of welcoming my brother, @AlikoDangote, today. We held in-depth discussions on strategic investment areas aimed at addressing Ethiopia’s pressing needs. I look forward to our continued and strengthened cooperation.
In Werabet Shama Kebele, Hulbareg Woreda, Silte Zone, of the Central Ethiopia Region we also commenced the construction of the fourth model farmers’ village which is a part of the rainy season goodwill/volunteer initiative. Once completed, these homes will significantly improve the livelihoods of local farmers and promote a healthier standard of living.
During our visit to the zone, we also observed encouraging private sector participation in the agro-industry. As an example, we toured the Atot Integrated Agro-Industry. Initiatives like this should be encouraged, as they align well with the broader objectives set forth in the Bounty of the Basket initiative.
My new book "ብሔር-ተኝነት" is now listed as a "#1 New Release" in Ethiopian history on amzon. I would like to thank you for your interest to read this work!
