The new Route #5 will provide frequent, reliable service every 30 minutes, connecting Portland to Poplar Level while making it easier to get around Louisville.
Traveling through Downtown, Broadway, Shelby Park, Germantown, and Bashford Manor, Route #5 will also serve key destinations like Norton Audubon Hospital, Camp Taylor, the Newburg Library, and Bashford Manor Mall.
Whether you're commuting to work, heading to school, running errands, visiting family, or exploring the city, Route #5 offers convenient, dependable connections all day long.

One of the changes coming with the New TARC Network is a new temporary Downtown Transfer Center at Muhammad Ali Blvd. & 8th Street.
What does that mean for you?
🔄 All routes serving downtown will come together in a coordinated "pulse"
⏱️ Most transfers will take just 5–10 minutes
🚏 New bus bays, shelters, and wayfinding information
🌎 Travel across Louisville will have connections between routes
Whether you're traveling from Pleasure Ridge Park to Jeffersontown, Shawnee to St. Matthews, or anywhere in between, the Downtown Transfer Center will make connecting between routes happen at a central location.
Even riders on routes that run every 30–60 minutes will benefit from timed transfers designed to minimize wait times and help you get where you're going.

TARC, the Portland Museum, and JCPS unveil the 2026 Design-a-Bus winners with a brand-new student-designed bus wrap inspired by the theme “Portals of Transition.”
Ten student artists create artwork reflecting moments of growth, change, and new experiences. Their winning designs travel across Louisville on a custom TARC bus for the next year, appearing on routes, at special events, and in parades.
The bus debuted at the Portland Museum, celebrating creativity, community, and the next generation of Louisville artists.
