“On this day back in 1999, Real Madrid travelled to Kiev for one of the toughest away fixtures in Europe. On March 3rd, the Galácticos trained in freezing -5°C temperatures in front of thousands of passionate Dynamo Kyiv fans who came to watch the open session.
Even Davor Suker, a Real Madrid legend, openly admitted how difficult and intimidating the challenge was. That cold night in Kiev perfectly captured the aura and intensity of Dynamo Kyiv a true fortress that commanded respect from even the biggest European giants.
Some stadiums and atmospheres are simply different. Dynamo Kyiv has always been one of them. 💙⚪️❄️

Kiko Narváez tells the story:
“I used to whistle to Vieri on the pitch. So he’d immediately know when he was unmarked. He would always say to me: ‘Kiko, you’re a real Neapolitan!’: )
Meaning, one of those cheerful, fun-loving, jokey southern Italian types. Just like our Andalusians.
Vieri was a classic number 9 — a man of very few words on the field. But the moment he heard my whistle, he’d just touch the ball and score. Even when his legs were full of pain from his Milan days, he’d still run as soon as he heard that whistle.
Everyone at the Calderón knew about this duo. We were truly legendary.”
