y'all need to be watching the Telemundo streams, I'm half zoned out and hear snippets like "Cabeza de queso! Green Bay Packers!" no I do not speak Spanish
If you hate my color scheme, here are the plain old facts and figures on a clean map. Going to be interesting to see how this November's school board races turn out as we lead up to the next mayoral primary in February '27. (/end)
Fun project I've been working on for a while: the 2023 Chicago mayoral election by the new Board of Education districts. By my approximations (split precincts), in the February 2023 primary, Vallas carried 9/20 districts, Johnson 4, Lightfoot 6, and Chuy 1. #twill

Removing the lovely shading, these maps show the first & second-place finishers in the primary. Vallas beat out Garcรญa in the districts he needed; Willie Wilson (9% citywide) came second in District 9a. And Chicago's answer to the Commie Corridor stands out in green (3/n)

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved colleague, Riley. He was a cherished member of CDOT's Complete Streets team and a dedicated public servant committed to making Chicago's streets safer and more accessible for everyone. He will be greatly missed.
Fun fact, my last internship in grad school was a (fully remote, COVID-era) internship with Sec. Haaland's Office at Interior. So stoked to see one of Biden's best Cabinet members take up this challenge.
A quick Monday evening map continuing my look at the new Board of Education / School Board districts -- here's the results from the 2024 Bring Chicago Home ballot question. BCH won 10/20 districts while (sadly) losing by 4% citywide.
I opted to label the top two highest/lowest performing districts instead of inundating you with all 20 labels. Find your district here: https://t.co/Pcg8yWID6N
The transition of sports fandom from loyalty and joy and community to monetization and commodification is a little heartbreaking to me. A signal of the broader commercialization of everything not nailed down in America.
