It takes two to tango.

While running a startup, it is all the more important to have that perfect balance with your co-founder.

Here's a sneak peek of how @RidhiKD and I juggle our work together while running @LXMEofficial:

1. We operate on the same wavelength.

Where there is no space for ego or boundaries.
We allow each one to be candid with the other.

2. We debate and brainstorm in a very healthy, positive manner.

This is what makes big (and small things) happen.
Our mantra: Communication avoids conflicts.

3. There are days where I am working on something and she picks up something from my bucket; and there are days she is working on something and I do vice versa.
That help doesn't come across as "chore" or "mine and yours".

It's our work.

4. When we started working together, we loved what the other person was doing.

A healthy sense of respect for where the other person is coming from unconsciously built a solid foundation for work we started doing thereafter, together.

5. More than anything else, both of us strongly believe in ethics.

We are each other's conscience keepers.
Before everything else, being transparent in whatever we do and how it downloads to @LXMEofficial users is both our top priority, and it keeps us aligned.

It's been almost three years we are working together, and I personally look forward to building our startup together for many more to come.

Here's the two of us — to tango!💃💃

We won at Cannes!!

Payal Kapadia’s film "All We Imagine As Light" makes Cannes history with Grand Prix award.

It turns out, the Grand Prix is the festival’s second-highest honour after the Palme d’Or.

Amongst the many Highs, an INDIAN film won it, AFTER 30 years and it’s directed by a WOMAN.

It took Payal Kapadia 5 years to make this film!

What makes a person persevere in the face of naysayers, circumstances against you or just the several biases that you face along the way?

Taking a leaf out of my journey, a few learnings that made the “impossible possible”:

1. Visualising the “impossible (which only you believe is possible) and the impact, the outcome and the emotion of conquering it.

I wake you up everyday imagining a world where every woman has the @LXMEofficial app to power her money journey.

2. Self belief and belief in your goal.

When I started @LXMEofficial, most folks told me “why do you need a financial platform for women” and each time my answer would be “look around and see what women around you are doing with money earned or saved?

3. Mapping out the journey, highlighting challenges, roadblocks and of course the financials.

The beginning and the end seem very exciting, it’s the time in between that most of us fall off our journey. Because a lot of it is not always fun.

4. Keeping the detractors at bay and your end customer near.

A few times I have been told “Indian men would not ALLOW their women to manage money”.

While my shock came from a place of feminism and equality, I asked this pointed question to a lot of men and women.
And much to my earnest pleasure, their replies were to the contrary.

Speaking to your audience, understanding their perspective is gold.
Changing behaviours makes impossible even more uphill.
But getting your messaging/product to adapt to their behaviour, reduces friction.

5. Processing failures as a plus:

In this journey there are more failures than wins.
But each failure makes the smallest of wins sweeter.

I have had to build the ability to take everyday as a new day, no matter what the day gone by brought.

6. Forming your pack of cheerleaders, these are the people who believe in you and want to see you win.

These are also the people you can vent to, only to be motivated even more. I have been blessed to have one in my family and mostly my co-founder Riddhi Kanoria Doongursee.

We are our cheerleaders for each other while we build this beautiful dream app for women.

And finally, since it’s films, the one thing that I have always believed in is:

“कहते हैं किसी चीज़ को पूरी शिद्दत से चाहो तो पूरी कायनात उसे तुमसे मिलाने की कोशिश में लग जाती है”

I am a huge believer in manifesting your dreams and it’s a feature on our app too!!
