Preparing to examine and release the next lot of Paediatricians (22) this morning. Yesterday, we examined the next set of doctors. By the end of this month, we shall have another 2000 doctors, nurses, midwives , pharmacists, and 150 specialist doctors.

The only 2 Paediatricians were so won out. *"You know there are no interns* one said. Several nursing students doing the little they knew. It was like a war zone. Then we have people still keeping 2000 skilled health workers at home refusing to pay them! A mad country.

In Jinja children's hospital today. The wards were crazy: 282 hospitalised with 45 admitted overnight. The Emergency unit was a disaster zone; 3 children on oxygen on each available cot, several in coma, others receiving blood, one mother wailing "Omwana afa, leka ntwala eka".

It is painful how we treat our young. Hospitals are overwhelmed with patients but 2000 highly trained people are at parents homes b'se MoFPED cut the MoH budget. #DonotcutMoH budget.

Thank you Rt Hon Deputy Speaker for the walk against malaria and the blood donation. Uganda needs 450,000 units of blood a year but UBTS is struggling to collecct 300,000 annually Your example is timely.

I wrote this 10 yrs ago. The problem has now ballooned; so many children of middle income parents in high end schools coming to hospital with conversion disorders. Pressure to achieve is so high, children hardly sleep, dont play, are so stressed & are falling apart. Lets wake up.

@rggoobi Mabati saga has provided govt the opportunity to reduce the cost of political governance. Reduce the number of Ministers back to 21 and with it Ministers of State, presidential advisors etc. The small money you have will be able to take you far.
