Today we mark 167 years since the Union of the Romanian Principalities, a milestone that laid the foundations of modern 🇷🇴 Romania.

This historic act of national unity combined popular aspirations and solidarity with political action. It marked the beginning of transformative reforms, indelibly anchoring through institutions, commerce and ideas Romania in the European family.

The Union is also the modern cornerstone for Romania’s European diplomacy that continues to inspire our work and commitment for the prosperity and security of our citizens.

Voi iniția în ianuarie, imediat după sărbători, un referendum în cadrul Corpului Magistraților cu o singură întrebare: „Consiliul Superior al Magistratului acționează în interes public sau acționează în interesul unui grup din interiorul sistemului judiciar?”.

Și, dacă magistrații, în ansamblul lor, vor spune că da, Consiliul Superior al Magistraturii acționează în interes public, vom continua discuțiile legislativ.

Dar dacă însă magistrații, în majoritatea lor, vor spune că CSM nu reprezintă interesul public, ci interesul breslei, atunci Consiliul Superior al Magistraturii va pleca de urgență.

Am luat această decizie pentru că, prin mesajele primite de la magistrați, peste 2000 de pagini, mi-au fost semnalate chestiuni foarte grave cu privire la sistemul de Justiție.

În esență, concluzia majorității acestor sesizări primite este că există o categorie de magistrați, membri ai CSM, conduceri ale instanțelor, care nu acționează în interes public, ci în interesul unui grup pe care îl constituie și că activitatea profesională a magistratului este dependentă de acțiunea, de multe ori, discreționară a acestui grup de persoane.

Sunt și chestiunile legislative pe care trebuie să ne concentrăm în perioada imediat următoare pentru a le rezolva pe termen scurt - cum se fac promovările, introducerea de criterii obiective, cine face parte din colegiile de conducere ale instanțelor, modul în care se fac delegări, detașări să fie mult mai precis formulat, astfel încât posibilitatea de atribuire discreționară să fie mult redusă.

Le mulțumesc tuturor celor care ne-au scris, pentru că e un gest de responsabilitate față de situația din justiție.

Today, Romania's Prosecutor General publicly released investigations showing that our country was the primary target of hybrid attacks orchestrated by the Russian Federation during the 2024 presidential elections. These involved:

- Over 85,000 cyberattacks targeting electoral infrastructure.
- Massive disinformation and manipulation campaigns conducted using social media.
- Social engineering and micro-targeting techniques employed to influence voting and divide public opinion.

According to the investigation, these actions directly supported a pro-Kremlin candidate in the electoral race.

This is not only a threat to Romania, but also a major challenge for the entire Euro-Atlantic community.

In this context, international solidarity and enhanced cooperation in the field of cyber and information security are essential.

Romania will not tolerate any foreign interference in its democratic process. We will firmly defend our sovereignty, the integrity of our institutions, and the trust our citizens place in them.

Ho ricevuto oggi a Palazzo Chigi la Presidente della Repubblica di Moldova, @sandumaiamd.

Al centro del colloquio, le prospettive europee della Moldova e i più recenti sviluppi dell’aggressione russa dell’Ucraina, la condanna dei massicci attacchi degli ultimi giorni che hanno violato la scorsa notte anche lo spazio aereo polacco.

Ho confermato il pieno sostegno italiano a Chișinău così come dimostrato, da ultimo, dalla recente conclusione degli Accordi bilaterali in tema di sicurezza sociale e riconoscimento delle patenti di guida.

Russia has demonstrated again, also through the flagrant violation of Polish airspace last night, that it is behaving aggressively, constantly testing our limits and defying all our efforts to achieve peace.

This is unacceptable, Russia must be stopped and pressured to come to the negotiation table. Romania stands in full solidarity with Poland, our Ally and strategic partner. We are united to make NATO and especially the Eastern Flank, from the Baltic to the Black Sea, more secure.

We will also continue to fully support Ukraine and its brave people who continue to be under merciless attack every day.
