San Antonio Christian enters 2025 with momentum after back-to-back winning seasons under Coach Austin Smithey, who has revitalized the program’s competitive edge. SACS returns a roster grounded in two-way versatility and rising underclassman talent, pushing to convert a solid 2024 season into a deeper district run. With senior leaders returning to carry the offensive load, the Lions are poised to lean on a balanced attack. Coach Smithey's squad must maintain consistency and raise the ceiling against a strong District 3 field to contend for postseason positioning.

🔥 Things to Like
🔹 Proven QB talent: Junior QB Sloan Guillory @SloanGuilloryQB returns with Varsity experience combined with arm strength, size, and mobility make him a dangerous dual-threat option.
🔹 Experienced offensive line: Four starters return up front, anchored by three-year starter Elijah Brown @ElijahBrownOL, with Luke Potts @lukepotts117, Bauer Crawford, and others providing size and chemistry to protect Guillory and open running lanes.
🔹 Defensive leaders in the front seven: First-team all-district LB Lance Malin (90 tackles, 3 sacks) returns alongside three-year starting DL Zach Griffin. Add in LB Spenser Hansen and LB Riggs Barth @riggsbarth and SACS has a tough, seasoned core.

👀 Things to Watch
🔹 Replacing lost star power: The departure of Jude Womack and Ben Moore leaves holes on both sides of the ball. Emerging leaders will need to step into those roles to maintain the team’s upward trajectory.
🔹 Playmaking in the secondary: While the front seven is experienced, the secondary will be tested against the district’s stronger passing attacks. Developing consistency in coverage will be key.
🔹 Keeping QB upright: Guillory is the focal point of the offense. Maintaining pass protection against aggressive defensive fronts will dictate how explosive this unit can be.

First off, a special shoutout to Coach Smithey and the Lions’ staff for providing top-notch, accessible information and for having one of the most well-organized Hudl pages in TXPSFB. It’s a tremendous resource for media, recruiters, and most importantly, the players. That same level of detail and professionalism shows up on the field, where the Lions have made noticeable strides under Coach Smithey following some tough seasons prior to his arrival.

There is one notable hurdle this year: two of the team’s top players, Jude Womack and Ben Moore, have moved out of San Antonio and are no longer with the program. That’s a tough blow, but it doesn’t mean the Lions are short on talent.

Quarterback Sloan Guillory returns for his second year as the starter. He’s a talented, athletic gunslinger with the ability to take over a game. Up front, he’ll be protected by a solid offensive line led by next-level prospect Elijah Brown, alongside Luke Potts, Bauer Crawford, and others. That group will also pave the way for returning running back Ethan Young.

Guillory will have no shortage of weapons in the passing game, with Lance Malin, Aaron Albrecht, Chris Kelly, and Will Harrison all returning as key receiving targets.

On defense, linebacker Riggs Barth will lead the charge, forming a strong unit with Spenser Hansen and two-way contributor Lance Malin. Zach Griffin and Bauer Crawford will anchor the defensive line, while the secondary will feature a deep and athletic rotation.

The Lions are absolutely trending in the right direction and should be a tough out this season. Still, it’s hard not to wonder just how good could this team have been with Jude Womack and Ben Moore still in the fold?
