BREAKING: America's billionaires have officially gotten $2 TRILLION richer during the pandemic, largely tax-free
Elon Musk's wealth alone shot up by 1,080%
Workers struggling to afford gas, groceries, healthcare are paying their fair share this Tax Day. Billionaires should too.
America’s 735 billionaires could pay down **all** student loan debt in the nation and still be as rich as they were two years ago before the pandemic. Go figure.
Here's what I've learned: When somebody says, "The problem is class, not race," it almost always means the problem is race. Maybe it's also class. But it's definitely race.
Corporate taxes as a percent of federal revenue have plummeted from 25% in the 1950s to 7 percent today, while income taxes and payroll taxes have made up the difference. If we want to pay for all the things America needs, corporate taxes must increase significantly.
If made permanent, the improvements of the recent provisions to expand the #ChildTaxCredit will reduce the child poverty rate by more than 40%.
Forty percent fewer hungry kids sounds pretty good to us.

A short history of corporate tax rates:
Reagan: 34%
Clinton: 35%
Bush: 35%
Obama: 35%
Trump: 21%
Many of biggest corporations: 0%
Biden's plan: 28%
Manchin says he'd agree to: 25%
Why not go back to 35% under Obama? Answer: Corporate lobbyists and campaign contributions.
The pay for CEOs has increased 1,322% from 1978 to 2020. Meanwhile, the wages of American workers have remained virtually flat.
This is the definition of a rigged system.
Whenever I see stories about how the min wage will doom businesses, they never talk about us.
We doubled our small biz min wage to $70k. After, our business tripled. Productivity grew. Employees were happier. Exec pay plummeted.
No one ever asked me to testify on how we did it.
Again, we’ve lost 9M jobs during the pandemic.
1) How does cutting people’s unemployment benefits by $100/wk incentivize them to return to jobs that don’t exist?
2) What basis is there to assume we’ll have 9M new jobs by September?
3) How does this make any economic sense?
The average minimum wage worker would need to work a staggering 79 hours a week to afford a one-bedroom rental in 95 percent of U.S. counties...in the richest country on Earth.
If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.
I will never stop fighting to make the minimum wage a living wage.
It's long overdue that we give 32 million workers a raise and lift a million people out of poverty.
Federal minimum wage:
1990: $3.80
2000: $5.15
2010: $7.25
2021: $7.25
Number of U.S. billionaires:
1990: 66
2000: 298
2010: 401
2021: 664
