@OldEngland1066 The hassle of adding them up at the end of term and they HAD to balance. I remember staff sweating and swearing as added up the figures. I never saw anyone checking them afterwards so what was the point. Oh, the relief of SIMS registers
@Rosssatron@SomersetCCC The cricket community doing what the cricket community does. Excellent support of a passionate supporter. Go well young man and continue to enjoy this greatest of sports. And what a cover drive!๐๐๐
@ThatsSoVillage Arrived at the ground at 12.15, in the rain, to watch the skippers debating whether a shortened game at 3.00 would be possible. In the pub at 12.45. No game. Sunshine at 2.00
@nmartyn25@ECB_cricket@BumbleCricket Shocking decision which affects the very people who have kept club cricket going for decades. Get to 50 and they discard you. 15k to support 50s cricket, they have never supported 60+ cricket and they talk about inclusion and cricket for all. Shameless.
@finnysteve Another brilliant article giving an insight into the life of a first class cricketer. The public only ever seen the ups but those personal downs must scar.
@TheTeesra @ECB_cricket I agree club cricket is so important to player retention as we approach the veteran stage, my objection is to the claim of inclusion. Ageism is too easily overlooked. Imagine the fuss if they removed support from any other area. We need equality.
@blathers66@BumbleCricket@ECB_cricket@Phil_Wisden@CountiesEngland Not only the 60s/70s are unfunded (and unrecognised) by the ECB but now the 50s. Almost without exception, those who play for these age groups have been the very volunteers the ECB rely on. Running clubs, coaching youth, doing pitches yet reach to 49 the ECB cut you adrift.
@TheBarmyArmy Best: proper Sunday roast dinners at home rather than grabbing a sandwich on the way to a game.
Worst: Saturday evening, seeing the rubbish being watched on the TV while I would have been with the team, in the pub, deep in "post match analysis".
