#Sunghoon found fame as the Vocalist, Main Dancer along with Niki and Visual Genius of the massively popular, chart-topping, history-making group #ENHYPEN, one of the best-selling K-Pop Acts of the Era! Before entering the entertainment industry, Sunghoon was a promising athlete in figure skating, earning the nickname "Ice Prince" for his elegant style and accomplishments. His transition from sports to K-pop showcases remarkable versatility, discipline, and global appeal! He's a very accomplished vocalist, and stands out in soft, high-tone falsetto parts, bridges, and harmonies in almost every song ( ie. “Fever,” “Polaroid Love,” “Sweet Venom,” “XO (Only If You Say Yes)" and “Highway 1009,” etc.). Sunghoon began figure skating at age 9 after starting with ice hockey to build confidence and treat amblyopia (lazy eye). He trained for a decade under world champions like Chi Hyun Jung and reached Korea's highest rating (Level 8) by November 30, 2019, one year before his idol debut. He was selected as a 2020 national team candidate but retired to pursue music. At age 14, he became the youngest to compete in senior nationals. His highest score was 163.76 at the 2018 Asian Open Trophy. Sunghoon has described skating as harder than idol life due to the solitary pressure and perfection required, yet it honed his stage presence and body control. In 2018, Sunghoon became a trainee at Big Hit Music after being scouted while figure skating and debuted as one of 24 trainees on the HYBE-CJ ENM survival program I-LAND, where he ranked 6th in the finale with 1,088,413 global votes, securing his spot in ENHYPEN. He was chosen as the "Dance Representative" for his fluid, ballet-influenced style from skating training. He performed NCT U's "The 7th Sense" with Jay in the premiere episode and overcame initial shyness to showcase growth in vocals, dance, and charisma, earning praise from judges like Zico. Sunghoon officially debuted as a member of ENHYPEN on November 30, 2020. ENHYPEN's debut album BORDER: DAY ONE sold 280,073 copies in its first week, setting the record for the highest first-week sales by a 2020 K-pop rookie group. Within two weeks of their debut, the band won the 'Next Leader Award' at the 2020 Fact Music Awards, and the album was certified Platinum by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA)! Their 2nd EP, 'Border: Carnival', was released on April 26, 2021 in conjunction with the lead single "Drunk-Dazed", and sold over 450,000 units in pre-orders alone! 'Border: Carnival' debuted atop the Oricon Albums Chart, the group's first chart-topper in Japan, and hit No. 18 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 9, 4 & 4 on the Billboard World Albums, Top Album Sales & Top Current Album Sales! Their first studio album, 'Dimension: Dilemma', was released on October 12, 2021, and hit #1 on both the Oricon Album Chart in Japan and Gaon Album Chart in Korea and #11 on the Billboard 200, selling over 1.1 million units on Gaon! ENHYPEN released 'Dimension: Answer', a repackaged version of Dimension: Dilemma, on January 10, 2022 which peaked at #1 on both the Gaon and Oricon Albums Chart, and earned their third top 20 entry on the Billboard 200, at #13, and 3rd consecutive #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart! The album spawned the smash hit "Blessed-Cursed", their first to top the Gaon Download Chart! The group set a record for the most entries (6) on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs Weekly! Their 3rd EP, 'Manifesto: Day 1', was released on July 4, and became their 2nd million-selling album, making them the fastest K-pop group to become 2 Million sellers! Sunghoon is a famous TV host, and in September 2021, he began hosting for Korean television program Music Bank with IVE's Wonyoung. The pair, dubbed as "장꾸" (Jangkku), first appeared on air together on October 8, 2021 and won a KBS Entertainment Award for Best Couple. On July 27, 2022, Sunghoon made a special appearance in Playlist's web series Mimicus as himself and in 2023, he won a Seoul International Drama Award for idol Champ Artist. Sunghoon has also contributed significantly to ENHYPEN's award-winning success since their 2020 debut. Sunghoon's star power has attracted high-profile brand deals with the other group members, and in 2021, ENHYPEN became house ambassadors for AMI Paris, a French casual-luxury brand, targeting Gen Z with chic, inclusive outfits. In May, 2022 ENHYPEN was chosen for the 2022 Coke summer campaign artist for "Coke X Music. In June 2023, they became the new brand ambassadors of Prada, their first major global fashion deal, and continue to cause a sensation at Fashion week in Seoul and Paris! In 2023, they also became ambassadors for Korean skincare leader Dr. Jart+ and in 2024 Enhypen were chosen as the new model image of the Japanese mail-order retailer Peach John for their new spring unisex room wear as part of their 30th anniversary special project. On April 30, 2024, Sunghoon and bandmate Jake became ambassadors for Tiffany & Co. and on May 31, 2024, Sunghoon was announced as the exclusive model for South Korean cosmetics brand Hince. On September 30, hair care brand L'Oreal Paris named Sunghoon as its latest ambassador. Sunghoon, known for his quiet humility and "Ice Prince" persona, embodies philanthropy through discreet, heartfelt actions rather than high-profile campaigns. His contributions often focus on disaster relief, disability support, and health awareness, reflecting his empathetic nature and background in overcoming personal challenges like amblyopia. His donations prioritize immediate recovery and vulnerable groups. In December, 2021, he donated ₩500,000 (~$370 USD) via fan voting to the MIRAL Welfare Foundation via CHOEAEDOL's Charity Fairy program. ENGENEs voted 65,543,259 times on his birthday, making him the app's 251st Charity Fairy and 4th ENHYPEN member to earn the title. On March 31, 2025, he donated 30 million KRW ($20,000 USD) to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to aid firefighters, relief workers, and affected residents' return to daily life.
