Christa Pike is scheduled to be executed today in the U.S., and reports say she has declined a last meal.
She has just hours left, and I honestly can’t imagine what must be going through her mind right now. Some people believe she deserves the punishment, while others are calling for mercy because of her age at the time of the crime and the abuse she suffered growing up.
It’s such a heavy case. 😔
Quem oferece o mundo, fama e riquezas é o diabo.
Sumerian is one of the oldest written languages we have, and it is a language isolate.
That means we cant trace it back to another known language family. Basically there is no proven parent language.
It basically sits there by itself at the beginning of recorded history.
FYI, there is no other language on Earth that is like this.
After you read what the Mesopotamians themselves said, it makes sense.
They told stories about the Apkallu, the ancient sages associated with Enki, who came from the water and brought humanity the foundations of civilization.
Writing was part of that knowledge.
Then Berossus gives us Oannes.
Oannes comes out of the sea and teaches people writing and the basic knowledge needed for civilization.
They are literally telling us what happened.
One of the earliest civilizations on Earth leaves us a language whose ancestry we still cannot identify, and their own tradition says that strange sages from the water taught humanity how to write and organize civilization.
I think maybe we should stop automatically treating everything these people wrote as meaningless mythology.
They were right about everything else; so why do we keep saying they made up the parts we can't understand in our world view.
What if they were actually trying to tell us where the knowledge came from?
We keep looking for the precursor; and I think the reason we cant find one is we refuse to take the story seriously.
THE DESERT STONE THAT STILL SPEAKS
Hidden in the vast, sun-scorched deserts of the Middle East, an ancient rock face carries a message from a world that disappeared centuries ago. Its dark, weathered surface is covered with deeply carved letters, symbols, and markings, each one cut by human hands long before the modern world existed.
Some inscriptions appear to preserve names, journeys, prayers, or moments from the lives of people who once crossed these empty lands. Others remain difficult to understand, their meaning slowly fading beneath centuries of wind, sand, and time. What makes the scene even more mysterious is the way newer markings seem to overlap older ones, creating layers of human history on the same stone.
Perhaps these were travelers who wanted to be remembered. Perhaps they were messages meant for someone who would come after them. Or perhaps some of the symbols still hold stories we have not learned to read.
The desert has buried countless secrets. But somehow, this stone kept one of them alive.
And after hundreds or even thousands of years, its silent message is still waiting to be understood.
@UnearthedHQ UNESCO records roughly 20,000 inscriptions in the protected area, with the majority of the ancient inscriptions dating broadly from about the 2nd century BC to the 4th century AD.
