Here’s a FUN FACT
When Dan Orlovsky rants about how you shouldn’t pair a first time Offensive HC like Ben Johnson with a young QB like Caleb in his Y2….
And how it seems most likely to fail (cherry picking his examples to make the argument)
And how a defensive coach may be better (wasn’t Eberflus that? 😂)
Remember this.
That infamous play where Dan O ran out of the back of his own end zone on a pass rollout & triggered a safety?
It was 2008.
Dan O was a QB in Year 4 drafted by Lions.
His Lions HC was Rod Martinelli.
A DEFENSIVE HC in his 3rd year of his first (and only) HC job.
Maybe if Dan has been paired with a top offensive coach like Ben Johnson 🤔
he would have found more success that year than
… a 56% completion rate.
… 1:1 TD/INT ratio.
… and had the detailed reps in practice which would have prevented making a huge mistake like THAT in a game. 😂😂😂
Stop projecting this notion of “being sick of the Offensive HC” and how they are rarely successful with a young QB
It’s not the only way to win, sure
But it can work.
And it may have helped YOU.
It’s a smart investment to pair the #1 offensive playcaller with a 1.01 QB pick.
Both elite talents to bring the best out of each other.
It’s COMMON SENSE.
Especially after failing with a defensive HC & OC playcaller not as successful who hadn’t developed a young QB with that level of talent.
Stop the premature doomcasting all over Ben & Caleb just because you weren’t set up for success, Dan.
Or because you were a Lion & hold a historical competitive grudge against the Bears.
Caleb & #Bears deserve the best chance for success.
The #Bears are investing that in him by hiring Ben.
Ben chose Caleb & Chicago because he believes he can make Caleb, this offense & this team successful.
At a minimum, give a more balanced perspective that telling all the reasons it will fail & then closing with a disingenuous “it could work” & “I 100% really hope it works” when you post a clip.
All evidence to the contrary
