@MarkLevineNYC NYC Schools have had staffing issues prior to this mandate. We’re still having staffing issues and we don’t have subs coming in. You would be very hard pressed to find an initiative that was actually successful from this current administration.

Homeless guy passed out in front of our school behind a nypd van. I call 311 for homeless services and they put me through to 911. By the time I’m able to speak to someone off duty school safety moves him to a bench and then I get hung up on by the dispatcher @NYPDShea @NYCMayor

@ChalkbeatNY Staff only has to come in if they have in person responsibilities and could be called in any time. Students are opting to be remote. The Uft vax sites were inconvenient to those living outside the 5 boroughs. I’ve been in person but was only able to complete my vaxs early april.

@MikeBloomberg NYC students had the option to return in person, can’t do it safely for all. We average 250-300 closed schools daily here. Speaking of equity,maybe you could use .006% of your net worth to donate a chromebook to every kid in nyc for school. Where was this equity in 2002-13?

@UFT @nypmetro Some of my members were able to get them. My apt was cancelled. The uft/doe should get its own supply to offer to the in person members. Assign people vax apts at school. Give them leave time and send them back to class. If they don’t want it move on to the next member.

@reemadamin @ChalkbeatNY I can’t wait to get the vaccine but I live on Long Island and teach in Brooklyn. I’m not sure where we would have access or time to get it done. We also have staff members who commute from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We have no idea what the plan would be for those people.

@rweingarten The cafeteria in my D75 Brooklyn school only allows for 8 people due to the size of the tables and the required distancing according to COVID-19 guidelines. The city should have closed schools at thanksgiving and considered reopening in January.
