I wouldn’t trust Kyle Clement as far as I could throw him. Lawsuits seem to follow him no matter the business, and he uses the exorcist schtick to gain trust.
EXORCIST SUES FOR DEFAMATION
Fr. Carlos Martins is suing an assistant to Fr. Chad Ripperger for defamation, after the assistant (Kyle Clement) essentially called Fr. Martins a fraud.
Fr. Martins is an exorcist ad actum, meaning he is commissioned by bishops on a case-by-case basis to perform exorcisms in their diocese. This has been confirmed in writing by Fr. Martins' religious superior, and confirmed by Fr. Martins himself.
For whatever reason, Clement claimed in 2024 that Martins is NOT an exorcist.
Fr. Martins waited a year for a public retraction and apology, which never came - so he pursued reparation to his public reputation by filing a defamation lawsuit.

Wow, I had no idea the famous All Souls exam has fallen to such a low state. It used to just be one option, and one word, like “sin,” “wonder,” or “birth.”
Today I learned about the All Souls examination, which is reputed to be the hardest exam in the world.
To even be considered, you need to have a degree from, or be a current graduate student of Oxford.
Hundreds of people sit and only two people pass every year.
Attached is last year's general exam.
Before I saw it, I wondered, how hard could it be.
Well, it turns out…it's "Defend ghosting.", "Does a pope matter?", and "Is body language a language?" hard:
Dietrich von Hildebrand also defends this in great detail in his final book “Aesthetics.” Beauty can only be attributed to sight and sound, and only analogously to the other senses. As a former professional chef, I still have to agree.
Things that appeal to the sense of smell and taste can never be "beautiful". Roger Scruton discusses this in his book on beauty. Beauty requires an intellectual component that is not merely appetite. One slice of chocolate cake can replace another. One sunset, one painting, one piece of music is never like another enough to sate merely base appetite. A woman's sexual qualities may satiate lust, but her lustful qualities are not where her beauty lies...they are beyond them. Appetite is below intellect.

George Washington's three warnings in his farewell address for the young republic:
Don't have political parties.
Avoid debt.
Don't have entangling alliances with other foreign powers.

There are people who are against the death penalty but support violent revolutions if it helps oppressed communities. It’s not about helping the downtrodden, it’s about dehumanizing our neighbors.
In any other time period, they would have shot the tiger to save the man. But that didn't here. They did shoot a few "warning shots" in the air. But didn't attempt to save the man.
And almost all the people commenting on the video are worried about the life of the tiger not the man.
this is what post-christian morality looks like.

@EduardHabsburg@kenofintegrity Does antifa still show up with signs saying how much they hate children? Back when I lived out there they’d outnumber us unless there was bad weather; then there’d only be us.
Anne Carson's not my favorite poet, but it's wild to see all the Greek-Statued "defenders" of Western Civ mock a scholar of Ancient Greek literature trained by Sir Kenneth Dover.
Carson also attends weekly mass & complains that the service isn't in Latin.
Traddest woman alive.
Peter Kingsley has written several books arguing that pre-Socratic philosophy has its origins in mysticism and shamanic experience. Kingsley argues that Parmenides (and others) may have participated in an initiatory shamanic tradition. The evidence Kingley presents for this claim (drawn from textual exegesis, history, and archaeology) is surprisingly convincing.
Parmenides’s famous poem, which survives in fragmentary form, is a depiction (so Kingsley claims) of an ancient spiritual trial called “incubation.” This involved lying down in a dark, isolated place, in complete silence and stillness (hesychia). There is a tradition which flourished in Parmenides’s time, which conveyed the “geography” of what one would find in the spiritual world via the practice of incubation. Surviving Greek texts describing incubation state that when one undergoes the experience everything begins spinning and one hears a shrill, piping sound (a sound mentioned in Parmenides’s poem). This was known as the “sound of silence”: the sound behind the entirety of creation.
Kingsley also tells us of the lesser-known philosopher-poet Epimenides (seventh or sixth century B.C.E.). According to legend, he slept for years in a cave and experienced visions of the underworld and of the “abode of Justice and Truth.” “Taken by Apollo” was the Greek expression for those who went on such “vision quests.” In the 1960s a first century C.E. bust of Parmenides was unearthed at Castellammare della Bruca in southern Italy, which bore the inscription “Parmenides, son of Pyres, Ouliadês, Natural Philosopher.” This clearly associates Parmenides with the cult of Apollo Oulios, or Apollo the Healer (Ouliades means “son of Apollo Oulios”). Apollo was known as the “god of lairs,” and of people who lie down in lairs. In other words, of those who undergo “incubation” in order to achieve the status of the iatromantis (“healer-prophet”), a term used to describe Epimenides.
I'm telling you guys: this is the exact reason why anyone who considers themselves "conservative" or "on the right" will fail unless they take their education in the classics seriously. If you don't, you're just falling into the progressive narrative.
You see this all throughout liberal treatments of the past. No curiosity about why we developed any of the norms we did. The answer is already known. Those people were stupid and backwards and sexist. They made rules about sexuality to control women, who they hated. There was never any logic to it that made any sense. There’s nothing interesting to discover. Everyone who lived before 50 years ago was a degenerate.
It’s truly a childlike understanding of human psychology, of history, of sexuality, etc, etc.
It’s less about the students capacity, more to do with the teachers. Their curriculum is one of the best I’ve seen anywhere, but where are you going to hire the right teachers besides retired men and illiberally trained teachers?
This conversation should be a longer podcast, but it depends on background and the philosophy text. Most of these students can and should read Plato's Apology and the Euthyphro and other dialogues. And probably Aristotle's Ethics.
But I agree that in general this is a bit too much.
Look, I’m a big fan of St. Jerome’s, but this reading list is absurd. Speeding through these works is the only way to do it and it’ll bring about either arrogance or apathy.
Ok, this is incredible.

"They gain an in-depth knowledge of Western civilization from Athens, Rome, and Jerusalem through England and the founding of our own country."
The reason Church dating culture - yes across denominations - is generally so cooked isn't even just the demonization of all normal and natural (male) sexuality and desire as "lust," but that when there ARE sparks that fly between two members, Church leaders either insert themselves into the dynamic at a stage when it isn't recommended (and kill the interest with their pressure), or arguably worse, refuse to lean on women to open themselves up to guys who would genuinely be good fits for them
The reality is that many women get anxious, especially in environments so suspicious of attraction like this, and shut down the courtship process even if they do feel something for the guy in question. Part of them, usually due to the church culture, feels it's wrong
These women need to be encouraged and gently called out by these authorities figures for their reluctance to date these men, who are generally co-parishioners and solid guys, and whose marriages would lead to much fruit for the church.
But these "leaders" are so cucked and clueless when it comes to women, they are unable to separate a woman's lack of interest in a man from her lack of comfort with being interested in men in general
In the past, elders had no time for this nonsense and would get these girls on the right path. They used their authority to direct the women towards what they wanted and needed, and took the emotional noise less seriously
Now instead they defer to these women's neuroticism and accept their hesitation at face value, with catastrophic results, as these women - without proper guidance - just loop for years
The "leaders" need to wake up and understand a) most women, especially young women, don't know what they want, and b) throughout human history it took a village to get people to pair up, and that people are going to church in large part because they are looking for this facilitation
This is a HUGE opportunity to being more people into the Church. Yet they are failing not only in this important civilizational task, but in their godly ones
Because ye shall know them by their fruits. And if your youth won't get together under your headship, I'm sorry but your fruits are barren. And the situation is too dire for your tree to stay in this state without being uprooted
I don't think this will lead to the Christian youth turning away from God, but it will lose them turning away from Church authority. Because if the church as it stands can't even facilitate Christian marriages, what is it good for? The more obedient youth will end up alone for following the teachings off the cliff, while the rebels will turn to the secular dating world to meet their wives, because for all its faults, at least the women there are more open to connection
This problem is a firebell in the night, and Church leaders better get serious about solving it. The leadership is trash, and all roads lead to their inability to address the roles and responsibilities of women in virtually any context.
We need a return of benevolent patriarchs, and the end of morally smug girl dads running things
