Organising the 10th anniversary Flow Country Conference was a satisfying end to my time @ERI_UHI
Delegates gather in Thurso to celebrate a decade of peatland research in the Flow Country https://t.co/W8UvXfiUTf
the fact that millions of people across the uk will go cold and hungry this winter whilst being forced to watch a funeral and then a coronation that will cost billions is a perfect example of just how broken the system in this country is
@yorkshire_dales found and removed a burning memorial candle in the woods near Janet's Foss / Gordale Scar yesterday - slightly scary with this fire risk!
Just a reminder that early bird registration and abstract submission for the Flow Country Research Conference is due by 2/9/22.
Come and join us in Thurso from October 25th-28th! #peattwitter#peatpaper#forpeatssake https://t.co/7IP6eSADK7
Happy #BogDay all! #Peatlandsmatter for us all, they store #carbon, regulate #water and are host to all kinds of unique #biodiversity. What are peatlands to you? Here are some people we asked earlier...

Huge positive news on @UKRI_News policy fiasco.
Sources confirm @ESRC DTP Directors are collectively contesting policy decision and are raising concerns about effects on PGRs.
RT and spread word that asking DTPs and senior university staff to raise objections is working!
This is absolutely heartbreaking.
‘Change your project’ is not advice. It’s a way to shift blame onto students and their supervisors and it’s a pretty awful move from UKRI.
Disappointing news from @UKRI_CEO. Taking 7 months to tell year 2 and 3 students that there is no extra funding and that they need to change their projects asap is invalidating and dismissive. No wonder us PhD students consistently feel undervalued.
Today we’re publishing the results of our review of support for our students during the Covid-19 pandemic. We have spoken to many in our community and their experiences helped inform this report. We are immensely grateful for their time and energy (thread)
